25.01.2022 Nature Conservation Margaret River and the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attraction are coordinating the Arum Lily Blitz... control program funded by the State Government’s Natural Resources Management Program. The project is supported by the City of Busselton, Shire of Augusta Margaret River, Lower Blackwood LCDC, Yallingup LCDC and the Margaret River Tourism Association. Residents are strongly encouraged to join in and will be provided with free herbicide, resources, training and support. See the links below for an Information on Arum Lilies control. https://www.natureconservation.org.au//Arum-Lily-Control.p To register for the Arum Lily Blitz Program: https://www.natureconservation.org.au//co/arum-lily-blitz/ Arum Lily (Zantedeschia aethiopica) originates from South Africa and is a major weed in the region. Arum Lilies infests native bush, wetlands and agricultural areas. Many landholders in the district are already controlling Arum Lily on their properties. The City of Busselton also identifies areas of land it manages to undertake control on each year. A continued and combined approach is the best way to successfully control Arum Lily as seeds are easily spread by birds to new areas.

24.01.2022 Come take a dive into a Native Bee Hive It’s not often that you get a chance to dive inside the residence of our wonderful Tetragonula carbonaria native stingl...ess bees. They are one of only a few of our Australian native bees that form a colony and today I had the chance to peak inside the their incredible world with native bee specialist Dan Smailes from Sydney Native Bees and Sydney Native Bee Rescue. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, experience and passion for our unique Australian native pollinators. There is just so much to learn and love about these bees, the pollination work they do and the organisational structure and operation of the colony. 24.01.2022 As the weather is warming up be really careful working in the garden. It’s warming up and snakes are coming out of hibernation and as you can see here snakes camouflage with their surroundings and I was very close to treading on this snake. Australia has some highly venomous snakes and who knows what a bite from this guy could do.

18.01.2022 Very nice artwork

14.01.2022 Members enjoyed an informative technical evening last week with our Bronze Sponsors, Soil Solver and owner Gavin Davies. Gavin discussed the importance of manag...ing our soils from a landscape perspective; understanding the soil chemistry and the interaction of clay within it to help unlock many important chemical reactions that facilitates the growth of plants through beneficial nutrients. LIAWA board member, Ben Sims from Ben's Gardens spoke about his experiences as a landscaper and using Soil Solver and emphasised the various applications where Soil Solver could be used within a landscape project - from raised beds to open ground garden beds. Our thanks go to Gavin and Sioux for hosting the evening and to the members who came along.
