And we know that attending your imaging examination is still a necessity for many.... In this regard we’re still providing our usual high quality service. But in doing this, we appreciate that some things may have changed, as we create the safest environment we can. So if you’re asked to wait outside our department prior to an appointment, or we ask you some extra questions during the booking process, please know that these measures are in place to help protect our patients and staff. Just know that our service is still here. Our commitment to quality imaging is as high as it’s ever been. And our patient care remains uncompromised. 24.01.2022 OUR COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS We’ve implemented the strictest measures to ensure we have a safe environment for our patients and staff. It starts with our booking process.... You’ll be asked a series of questions about your overseas travel, your interstate travel, and your potential contact with confirmed Coronavirus cases. We’ll also ask you about possible fever or other respiratory conditions you may have. We appreciate your patience with this, but we’re sure you appreciate that all this helps us understand whether you may be at risk We also may ask your family and friends to wait outside the waiting room, so that we can accommodate patients while satisfying personal spacing regulations. 22.01.2022 Breast Cancer Awareness Month October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which brings into focus the sad fact that 8 women lose their lives to this disease each day. The best way to stop these deaths is to raise awareness about breast health and help raise funds for research and preventative programs.... At Benson Radiology we support initiatives such as the Pink Ribbon Campaign across our branches. We also use this month to remind everyone about being breast aware because early detection provides the best chance of beating the cancer. 19.01.2022 INNOVATIVE RESEARCH INTO DIAGNOSING ENDOMETRIOSIS Benson Radiology is delighted to be assisting the Adelaide University’s Robinson Research Institute in a ground-breaking study that could help in the diagnosis of endometriosis and prevent the need for invasive surgeries. Our team of specialist body radiologists will play a key role in assessing past pelvic MRI and ultrasound scans to help inform a machine learning process that can recognise the imaging markers of endometrios...is. 18.01.2022 THERE’S MOVEMENT AT THE STATION! As we take over the imaging department at North Eastern Community Hospital, progress is now underway for the installation of our imaging equipment. Pictured below is our new CT scanner, which has just made its way into its new home.... As the equipment installations continue, limited radiology services will be available next week, with full services available from 1 February. We’re excited about our new partnership with the hospital, its patients and of course the local referring medical practitioners.

18.01.2022 Benson Radiology is delighted to support Surf Life Saving South Australia through the donation of a fleet of Oxy-Viva resuscitator kits. The great people at SLSSA plan to use the donated kits within their training program to help teach valuable first aid and CPR skills. SLSSA is a vitally important community-funded service that exists solely through fundraising and donations of this sort, and we are thrilled to be able to add these resuscitator units to the cause. 17.01.2022 We have a new Managing Partner! We’re delighted to welcome Dr Shan Bau as our new Managing Partner. Shan has been with the Practice since 2002 and a Partner since 2009. She takes over from Dr Dale Allison, who held the position since June 2018.... On behalf of the Practice I extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to Dale for the dedication and leadership he provided the Practice during his term as Managing Partner, Dr Bau said. There’s been some major achievements during his time, including the development of our new Barossa clinic and the commencement of reporting services at Murray Bridge and Berri - and not to mention the global challenges of 2020. It’s an honour for me to be entrusted with the Managing Partner position. 17.01.2022 BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH Each October we acknowledge Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the important role it plays in educating our community and raising vital funds. Breast cancer is the most common cancer for females in Australia with around 70 women diagnosed every day. Raising funds for research into the prevention and treatment of this disease can help so many families around the country. ... Throughout the month of October, Benson Radiology is running Cancer Council Pink Ribbon activities to raise funds for this important cause. We also use this time to remind everyone to be vigilant of any signs or symptoms because early detection is the best chance of beating this disease.

16.01.2022 GET TESTED! This month is Prostate Cancer Awareness month, and we’re saying get tested! Prostate Cancer hits about 1 in every 6 Aussie men. Early prostate cancer may have minimal symptoms, that’s why it’s important that men, particularly those over 50, talk to their GP about their prostate health and the available testing.... In terms of imaging tests, MRI of the prostate is now Medicare rebateable. It's an ideal and non-invasive way to investigate the prostate. Also, PSMA PET scans are the gold standard study for the staging of newly diagnosed prostate cancers. So spread the word, encourage the discussion of prostate health, and get tested. 09.01.2022 A MINUTE WITH DR ALLISON We already know Dr Dale Allison as our current Managing Partner. But let’s see what else we discovered when we spent - A minute with Dr Allison ’ . ?... I was always attracted to radiology as a specialty. I loved the challenge of needing to know the entire body’s anatomy and needing to have a real broad knowledge of conditions and diseases. There’s also a mix of patient facing work and procedures, which I particularly like. And because I felt it was a growing area of medicine it meant I was a fair chance of getting a job (not going to lie)! ’ ? I’m going to struggle to give a short answer to this one because the pace of change has been phenomenal. Advances in equipment and a broadening diagnostic ability has led to radiology becoming increasingly critical in the management of patients. The emergence of modalities without ionising radiation like ultrasound and MRI has simultaneously combined with dramatic improvements in dose reduction in the area of CT. In short, image quality has never been better. And the application of imaging has never been broader. The other change is the increasing involvement of the radiologist in patient management, particularly through interventional procedures. The most important thing however is that this isn’t just change for the sake of it. This is all significant progress that results in earlier and more confident diagnosis for patients. With respect to the future, I expect equipment to continue to progress and we’ll undoubtedly see Artificial Intelligence used in the way we triage and report films. , ? Sorrydid you say down time? I am a father of four children ranging from 3 to 12 years of age. So my focus is on a range of family activities. We spend a lot of time going for walks, bike riding and going to the zoo or the beach. Not to mention the never-ending schedule of ferrying to and from sports on the weekends. ? Well, I’m the current holder and two-time winner of the hotly contested Benson Radiology table tennis championship. I’d also say I’m pretty much ‘elite’ at trimming the hedges in the garden! ? I don’t really have one. I just want to make sure I can squeeze in a few more holidays with the family. And of course, more golfing trips with the boys. ? I’m into most sports. So being paid to be a professional sports person would be pretty good. But to be honest, I wouldn’t really switch with anyone. I’ve been lucky to become a radiologist, which I would never take for granted.

08.01.2022 Innovative investigations for Alzheimer’s In 1907, Dr Alois Alzheimer discovered the presence of beta-amyloid plaque deposits on the brain of a middle-aged woman presenting with dementia. To this day, these plaque deposits are still considered an early indicator of Alzheimer’s Disease. Benson Radiology’s PET imaging team has recently performed Amyloid Brain PET Scans on patients being evaluated for AD.... Check out the images below. 08.01.2022 WORKS TO COMMENCE ON OUR NEW RADIOLOGY DEPARTMENT Since January, Benson Radiology has been providing the medical imaging services at North Eastern Community from the hospital’s existing radiology wing. However, construction is about to commence on our brand new department within the hospital.... The new department will have a state of the art, modern and comfortable environment, and will also include an MRI scanner. This is an exciting development not just for us but for the Hospital, local clinicians and the broader community of the north eastern suburbs.
