25.01.2022 We are in search of best environmentally friendly toothbrushes. Australians send 30 million plastic toothbrushes a year to landfill. We will be stocking biodegradable toothbrushes made of corn starch and bamboo toothbrushes in our practice so you can make a difference to the planet. Corn starch brushes will take 1 year to break down in a home compost or 90 days in commercial compost. Nylon bristles can be recycled. Bamboo brushes will take around 4-6 months in a home compos...t or a few weeks in commercial compost. Again, nylon bristles can be recycled as plastic recycling. For those that love the conventional plastic toothbrushes, we also partake in oral care recycling program with Terracycle Australia. We accept toothbrushes, floss containers, empty and dry toothpaste tubes, and any outer packaging of oral care products. Many kids who fall or get in accidents can lose a tooth before their permanent tooth is ready to erupt. When this happens a space maintainer is needed to keep the space for incoming teeth. A space maintainer will make sure that the teeth around the space do not shift. If these teeth shift,... then they may hinder the incoming permanent tooth. This tooth will not have room to come into the open space if the surrounding teeth shift in to fill the gap. A space maintainer will not only hold the space for a permanent tooth but will also keep the surrounding teeth from shifting inward and becoming crooked.
