04.01.2022 Lets support and help our little ones readjust... for Parents & Caregivers.

03.01.2022 BREAKING: Here's our back to school plan for Queensland students. Students in Kindy, Prep, Year 1, Year 11 and Year 12 will return to school on May 11, while s...tudents in Years 2 to 10 will continue remote learning at home. We will review the situation on May 15, with the goal to return the remaining students on May 25 if low COVID-19 transmission rates continue. Children of essential workers and vulnerable children are still able to attend school. A sensible and gradual return is only possible because of Queenslands success in slowing the spread of COVID-19. Compare our efforts to what has happened in other parts of the world and Queenslanders should feel very proud. Keep up the good work! #coronavirus

03.01.2022 One more time for those who dont know its our Ops manager 50th!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDREA!! (Andrea An Jason Barnard )

03.01.2022 At the P&C meeting on 21 July we discussed and agreed upon COVID-19 safety precautions and routines that the College is implementing for the first half of this ...term to ensure our community stays safe. Social distancing Parent/carer/visitor access to the College is restricted during school hours. All parents/carers/visitors must report directly to either the A Block (Primary) or AA Block (College Administration and Secondary) when, for example, collecting a student for a pre-arranged appointment or from the sick bay. School arrivals and departures To assist with reducing the number of students and parents/carers gathering at the Primary Stop-Drop-Go Zone, the following procedures have been put in place: Students enter via the main Primary campus gates between 8.30 am and 8.45 am. Parents/carers only enter the grounds if student support is required. At 2.50 pm, Prep and Year 1 students will be escorted to the front gate, where parents/carers collect them. Years 2, 3 and 4 will leave at 3.00 pm, with Years 5 and 6 leaving shortly after. College Parades In the Primary sector of the College, school parades are re-starting this Friday 24 July with the Year 3-6 Parade. P-2 Parades will re-commence in Week 3. At these parades, only students and staff will be attendance. Parents/carers will not be permitted to attend at this stage. In the Secondary sector, parades have commenced. We are currently holding Junior Secondary and Senior Secondary parades instead of 7-12 parades, with year level parades continuing as normal. Handwashing Additional handwashing stations, including liquid soap dispensers, have been installed across the College for students and staff to access. Students have been explicitly shown how to wash their hands for 20 seconds, and health department signage is on display throughout the College. Parent Teacher Interviews Parent Teacher Interviews will be occurring on Tuesday 4 August (Week 4) and Tuesday 11 August (Week 5) for Primary in students classrooms, and Tuesday 4 August (Week 4) for Secondary in G Block. The College will have a range of precautions in place to protect peoples health due to COVID-19 at the interviews. Our cleaning staff will be wiping down touchpoints such as door handles and desks throughout the afternoon. We request that you comply the following measures: Please stay at home if you are feeling unwell or have been experiencing flu-like symptoms. Register your attendance with a member of the administration team upon arrival at the interviews. Use hand sanitiser upon arrival and in each interview room. Maintain social distancing. Enrolment Information Sessions COVID-19 safety precautions will also be in place for the upcoming Prep, TechExpress, Year 7 and Year 11 Enrolment Information Sessions. There will be three separate Prep Enrolment Information Sessions 9.00 am, 3.30 pm and 5.30 pm on Tuesday 4 August. The TechExpress Enrolment Information Session will be held in the Primary Library from 5.45 pm on Wednesday 5 August with social distancing observed. The Year 7 (Wednesday 29 July, 5.00 pm to 6.30 pm) and 11 Enrolment Information Sessions (Wednesday 12 August, 5.00 pm to 7.30 pm) will be held in the Student Centre (Stadium) to enable greater social distancing. Student Absences A reminder that if your child is displaying any cold or flu symptoms they are remain at home, and please contact the College using one of the methods below: send an email to [email protected] reply to student absence SMS or send an SMS to 0426 305 969 call the absence line on 4040 8160 and leave a message. Please ensure you clearly provide your student's first and last names, date of absence and year level. Safety precautions in relation to COVID-19 will be reviewed in Week 5 for the second half of the term. For this we will be informed by the Department of Educations guidelines. Yours sincerely Bruce Houghton College Principal
