23.01.2022 IMPORTANT COVID SAFE MESSAGE To our valued patrons. New public health order rules - "From this Friday, 16 October 2020 restrictions at hospitality venues will be eased to allow one patron for every two square metres in outdoor areas (previously this was one person per four square metres). Businesses wishing to take advantage of the relaxed restrictions must use electronic methods, like QR codes, to record and keep contact details". This applies to our garden.... Bent on Food is only accepting digital sign in throughout the entire venue because if we are asked, we will be required to give details to the Government within 24 hours in digital format. We are happy to help our customers sign in, but we do ask that patrons are patient. Not only that, contactless sign in is the safest way to sign in. Yesterday staff personally signed in 80% of our customers which put us behind during service. We are happy to help but we do encourage you to bring your phone and if you do not have an iphone, perhaps download a QR code reader, they are free. We really appreciate your assistance in this matter. We are working hard to keep our customers and our staff safe. Thanks in advance.

22.01.2022 On Saturday night three Wingham businesses got broken into. Last night the thieves hit Old Bar including one of our faves Sai Thai Table and Tea who, like us, give loads back to the community. We are sorry that these thieves are so desperate that they need to steal from hardworking community minded business people. We are all smart enough not to carry much cash on the premises but it is an inconvenience and although covered by insurance, by the time we pay the excess, it costs us a fair bit. Please keep an eye out for your neighbours. Maybe some Government funding could be directed towards CCTV in our townships and/or police back in our towns. 22.01.2022 Meet Bess. She breezed in one day and asked us for some work. In her previous role she was a barber, but many years ago, she had worked in hospitality. Bess has that real down to earth, country gal, hard working attitude. You often find those people, they have the right personality, they just need help with the skills set. If you think you may like to try hospitality, and you love people, now is the time! Welcome to the Bent family Bess! by Jake Davey ... #skills #intention #staff #welcome #bentfamily #learning #training #wingham #barringtoncoast

22.01.2022 There has been a lot of media lately about the privileged generation. This is my front of house Manager Grace Coleman. Along with many of the young people I have employed, Grace is a hard worker who gives to the business and the community. The last thing the industry needs is for so called "hospitality gurus" to be putting down the very generation that we are trying to attract. It is true that the hospitality industry is in a bit of crisis and it is hard to find staff at th...e moment, but there are many factors at play. Take a listen to Grace, she can tell you that this industry can be a great place to work. We love our community and our place in it. Cafes, restaurants, pubs and clubs can be the heartbeat of a community and to be amongst it can be really rewarding. Thank you to my staff and to all the hardworking people in our industry. It has been a tough year, stay focused and enjoy what you do. MidCoast Council Mid Coast Connect TAFE NSW - Port Macquarie TAFE NSW Taree TAFE NSW - Great Lakes Regional Business Connect ETC - Employment and Training Thanks Jake Davey Studios for the fabulous video.

18.01.2022 COVID SAFE ANNOUNCEMENT Dear customers, Please see below the new regulations. We have been using QR codes since we re-opened in June and happy to assist our customers with them. If you do not have a smart phone please ask our friendly staff to sign you in on our devices. We wish to ensure you have a wonderful experience in our establishment. Please allow us to keep you safe during the process. We prefer to be contactless and our menu is viewed on your phone, but please let ...us know if you are having difficulty with the technology and we can provide you with a menu that is sanitized after every guest. . Please see release below. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Monday, 23 November 2020 ELECTRONIC REGISTRATION MANDATE TAKES EFFECT Venues must use electronic registration systems such as QR codes to record the names and contact details of patrons, or risk serious penalties, under new COVID-19 rules. Minister for Customer Service Victor Dominello said electronic registrations are easy to use and will help authorities with rapid contact tracing in the event a case attended a venue while potentially infectious. Businesses have had long enough to get their houses in order. With summer fast approaching we must remain vigilant, Mr Dominello said. Digital systems are contactless and safer to use and allow NSW Health to respond faster to outbreaks. Inspectors will be out in the community enforcing compliance and will crack down on wrongdoing. So far more almost 22,000 businesses have used a NSW Government QR code and 94 per cent of customers have given the COVID Safe Check In the thumbs up. Scanning a NSW Government QR code captures the business name, address and the customer’s contact details. The information is securely stored for 28 days for the sole purpose of contact tracing and can be instantly accessed by NSW Health if needed. After this time, it will be destroyed. For customers who do not have access to a smartphone, venues should record their contact details and time of entry using an electronic device

16.01.2022 Book your tickets. Its going to be a great night.

15.01.2022 There are some people who touch hearts with every interaction. Small towns are made up of those who stand on the sidelines and others who muck in and do it. Clair Twaddle was the latter. Our community is devastated because this bright star gained her angel wings a few days ago. We would like to pay tribute to this beautiful soul because she had the ability to make our day when she came in just before opening with a wide smile and a latte order. For many of the team, interacti...ons with Clair went much deeper than her daily visits because she nurtured so many of the students who have worked in the cafe, she helped with their charity events and was the first to lend a hand. She wasn’t just a teacher, she was a close friend to her students, and she helped to set so many of them up for success with her strong values and passion for hospitality, art and all things foodie. On behalf of the many of us in the community who were touched by her carefree nature, we send love to her family and close friends, and to her students and workmates who loved and respected her. Fly high Clair and thank you for the laughs. You will be sadly missed. Your legacy goes on through the love you gave to everything you did and to your beautiful life cut way too short. See more

02.01.2022 Last night we were involved with the wonderful team at First Steps Count for their first virtual dinner. We have a long relationship with the group, and have held many a dinner over the years to help raise funds for the project. We were thrilled to be invited to get involved with this one. Here is a little Negroni recipe demonstrated by our staff member Sean Little. He did an awesome job. Thanks once again Jake Davey for filming this one. Please follow the project, it is a game changer for our region.

01.01.2022 Just had to share this as it came up in my memories. The Thursday before Wingham Akoostik Festival is traditionally the opener at Bent on Food. This was a beauty, back in 2017 with some amazing musos. All the best to the Akoo team for a great festival this year, a little different due to Covid but should be fabulous with a great line up. Check it out on Pluto Entertainment this weekend. Welcoming today’s announcement for outdoor gigs. More news on that soon!
