02.01.2022 A few weeks ago, we were set the challenge of making two attachments fit two different sized excavators. This meant different hole centres (500mm & 435mm) and different pin diameters (90mm & 80mm) for each attachment. One of the attachments came with a set of ears which we were able to modify. For the other attachment we had to manufacture a complete set of ears with the modifications. In order to solve the different hole centres problem, we decided to keep one of the pins... where it was while the other could determine the hole centre by undoing 8 bolts and rotating two plates at 180 degrees. This changed the hole centre distance from 500mm to 435mm and vice versa. For the different diameter pins we machined down the centre, so the ends still suited the plates and bosses. Photos of the two ears with modifications can be seen below. If you are in the market for modifications to allow two or more excavators to use one attachment, come and have a chat with us and let us develop a solution for you!
