20.01.2022 BE Dry - in your socks Sweaty feet are extremely common however in some cases we can have extra sweaty feet resulting in extremely wet socks by the end of the day! The average foot can produce 250mL (half a pint!) of sweat in a day which is why ensuring you’re using the right tools to protect and allow for perspiration of your feet without impacting your day is important!... Natural fiber socks such as bamboo can help to regulate the amount of air getting to your feet as well as wick sweat away and have antibacterial properties (is there anything bamboo can’t do!) Your socks can also be be something you look to change in the middle of the day if you work in closed toed shoes to help air your feet even more if you feel you do tend to suffer from sweaty feet. If you’re after more information or are concerned that you have excessively sweaty feet we are here to help so please don’t hesitate to contact us on 9434 4422 or book online today.

18.01.2022 BE Protected during sport Every wondered why your runners wear out a lot quicker with some activities vs others? This is likely because not all of our shoes are built to do all the things we ask them to do. Quite often when we use runners for sports such as netball or basketball they may wear out a lot quicker. They also don’t give you as much support as a cross trainer designed for this activity (this picture by @mizunosportsaus is a wonderful example of this!) ... This is due to runners often being built to move in a straight line, so when asked to dart across a court and move from side to side this can result in abnormal wearing of the shoe and tread amongst other layers wearing out quicker! If you’d like more information on which shoes would be the most appropriate for the activities you’re doing please don’t hesitate to contact us on 9434 4422.

10.01.2022 BE patient with your healing journey! Healing often doesn’t occur in a purely upwards trend, although we would like it to. Have you ever heard the saying it’s going to get worse before it gets better? This is a good reference to the way in which pain presents and resolves within the body, specifically foot and ankle. ... We often think that when an injury occurs and we start on the track to recovery that the slope will only be up and once things start to feel better they will only continue to feel better. Unfortunately this isn’t the case for a lot of people. Pain doesn’t work in one upward trend, it usually has a lot of regression and plateau’s before it’s resolved completely and this is due to many things including tissue adaption, tissue stress and load compensations. THERE IS HOPE. At Be Podiatry we put in place comprehensive treatment programs that aim to achieve your goals and get you back on track while we work towards you being pain free. Frustrated with you healing pathway. Book an appointment with our team so we can help 9434 4422. See more

09.01.2022 BE supported Taping is one of the most common ways we as podiatrists can assist with reducing load on structures which may be in pain! Sports injuries where sprains or pains occur can often be aided with the use of different tapes! ... Pain that comes as a result of pressure can be helped through the use of sports tape primarily used to offload and redistribute plantar pressures! K-tape is often used as a functional method of allowing tendons and surrounding soft tissue structures to glide and move a little easier (with the help of a positive mindset) and therefore is mostly used in sports as a recovery, comfort and proprioception. Different studies show conflicting evidence on the use of K-tape however it can be a matter of don’t knock it until you try it! Be Podiatry has extensive knowledge and practice with the use of offloading with tape so if your suffering with pain your best bet is coming in and seeing what we can do to keep you healthy, happy and comfortable! Book in online or call 9434 4422 for an appointment See more

07.01.2022 BE on the road to recovery from heel pain One of the newest pieces of equipment to burst into the sports medicine world for treatment of musculoskeletal conditions is shockwave. Heel pain and Achilles pain are amongst some of the main conditions we use shockwave to treat in the clinic with other modalities such as exercise programs, dry needling and offloading principles. ... Shockwave works in 3 main ways: 1 Tissue destruction: Breaking up scar tissue, enthesiopathy and fibramotosis (fibroma’s). 2 Increase healing: Releases neuropeptides which stimulate regenerative responses within the tissues. 3 Reduce pain and spasm within muscle: Substance P is released into tissue which aids in relieving pain and spasming.
