14.01.2022 Meet ‘Rayven’ This very special girl won the heart of Karren Hurrell earlier this year and lives a very pampered life. In her former career ‘Rayven’ was a STB and had a lengthy career. Karren has the biggest soft spot for STB’s ......... especially black ones! This girl can move and in time will make Karren an outstanding dressage mount or eventer! The best horses are never easy nor uncomplicated!... This mare is an interesting individual with several quirky habits. No training session is ever the same and ‘Rayven’ likes to keep life interesting! When Karren acquired ‘Rayven’ she was not yet broken to saddle. Slowly over the last few months (twice weekly training sessions) Rayven has had a basic in-hand education instilled and has been started to saddle. She displays a high degree of motivation to learn and has responded best to positive reinforcement more than any other training technique. The pictures below are of Rayven with Karren on her first day being started and her third session (late November) being desensitised to aerosols. Her first training session had her displaying explosive behaviour (rearing and running backwards). Within several sessions she was able to ‘Park’ and be sprayed all over her body with fogger. It was such a massive improvement it was worthy of a pic Depending how her training progresses this very special ‘Black Beauty’ will be out competing next year making quite the impression! #Horsesarelife
