25.01.2022 I do love it when clients and friends who really understand my love, joy, even obsession with neuromarketing can share with me pieces of gold such as this! http://ed.gr/bgegr
25.01.2022 Ensuring staff is motivated and giving their 100% plays a key role for #businesssuccess. Some may think money is the solution, but if you are in #business you know that is not always the case. In fact, sometimes it is not relevant at all. Here is a collection of answers from business leaders on ‘how to motivate staff to ensure they’re giving your business all they’ve got’. Like Isabella Zambrano, I think autonomy plays a very important role to motivate stuff. What works for you when motivating staff? http://ed.gr/bfs1t
25.01.2022 [Synchronicity] These are those seemingly unrelated moments that we consciously notice, that can have a powerful, even emotive effect on us. In a world of so much cause and effect, I think a lot of what we do as creatives is about creating these 'magic moment' for our clients customers to experience. I like this article as it reminded me of the importance to question some of these moments, why is this person in my life at this time for example, as when we start to think this way, we can see a greater possibility. http://ed.gr/be9hl
25.01.2022 Getting to know your team members is key to building a good company culture, which is an important element of a successful business. Make sure to know who are those team members that seem to be doing a good job but in reality are very toxic to your company. Then, let them go and move on. http://ed.gr/bfx9z
24.01.2022 In business and in life, self-confidence is a must. My take aways from this excellent Ted Talk on how to build the SKILL of self-confidence : - Persistance (repetition) is key --> no acceptance of failure - Thoughts influence action --> stop negative self talk and get away from people who tear you down. https://www.youtube.com/watch
24.01.2022 [Success is never due to one thing, but failure can be] I went and saw Matthew Michalewicz who has run many businesses, sold them and now building another one he will list. He is the author of a number of business books and he was speaking to us about what he believes are the five key drivers of success. Here is what I learned: 1. Success begins with a goal. Why? because it gives you focus and a context on how to make decisions and see the opportunities. Therefore goals impr...ove decision making. 2. Desire. The more you want something the more effort you put into it. So set goals you REALLY want. 3. Belief. What we believe is more important than what is real. We act in a manner consistent with our beliefs. What is cool about human behaviour is that having a belief we can do something is actually a better indicator of performance than actual capability. 4. Knowledge. It is difficult to achieve any goal if you don't know 'how'. Having a belief you can do it, goes hand in hand with the knowledge of how to get there. But if you don't know how to do something, teach yourself, formally learn, or ask someone who has done it. 5. Action = Results. Goals that are unpacked into steps with measurable outcomes are more achievable. http://ed.gr/b7bnn
23.01.2022 Very useful and easy to practice tips to stay focused and avoid those "little" and apparently "inoffensive" distractions. http://ed.gr/bg6ee
23.01.2022 Outsourcing can be good way to access a bigger talent pool and improving efficicency while reducing costs. Though, there are a couple of things you should take into account beforehand: 1. Make sure the company/independent contractor you are hiring can actually do the job. Ask for references AND check them. Start by giving them small tasks so you can see the quality of their work before you give them something big. 2. If constant communication is needed to do the job, you mi...ght want to consider hiring someone who is in a similar timezone as you. 3. Make sure they have reliable internet connection. http://ed.gr/bfyav
19.01.2022 One of the things that I learnt early on in my career was this weird thing called a BHAG! it stands for Big Hairy Audacious Goal. (The phrase was in the book "Built to Last"). It has always stuck with me and I have used it over the years for most of my clients. My BHAG is to help 500,000 small-medium businesses be seen and heard.
16.01.2022 Charlie Munger - Warren Buffets business partner I have followed for many years. I love his insights, his humour but most of all I love the way he sees life. This is a really good story on him, but I also wanted to share Charlies three tips I reflect on regularly for coping with challenges. 1. Have low expectations 2. Have a sense of humour... 3. Surround yourself with the love of friends and family "Above all, live with change and adapt to it. If the world didn't change, I'd still have a twelve handicap." http://ed.gr/bgegu

14.01.2022 [Solve problems by cultivating cooperation]. In his book 'Beyond Success' Coach John Wooden talks about what makes great leaders. He describes great leaders often eagerly accept a position as a follower. This concept has been called Servant Leadership. Servant leaders are eager to do whatever it takes to support the entire team and its most important customers. They lead not by position or title, but instead seek to put the most qualified individual or team in charge of specific projects or campaigns. When it is appropriate for them to step forward and lead from the front, they do so without hesitation. But they are just as comfortable to let go and allow others to carry the ball.
14.01.2022 [Why can't we have it all?] If we divide our daily lives into four parts - Family, Career, Friends, Health we just can't be our best at all of these areas at all times in a day / week/ month / year. As much as we might want to! How do you try to manage to do them all? 1. Outsource areas to others? 2. Know your constraints and set timeframes to get it all bit done in? 3. Focus on different areas at certain times over your life?... http://ed.gr/bgcxe See more

12.01.2022 Have you ever heard of Chuck Feeney? This billionaire has given away more of his fortune than almost anyone else in history. But you've probably never heard of him. In business I have found having a greater purpose keeps me motivated when the going gets tough. What an impact Chuck is making while he is living. #inspiring http://ed.gr/baex7
12.01.2022 [Never compromise] "There have been many many times in my career where I have refused to let the client create a ‘Frankenstein’ as the changes they suggested were based on their personal perceptions and even levels of conformity to what their competitors were doing." http://www.beremembrand.com/never-ever-compromise-especia/
12.01.2022 This is a great video from Goalcast about where too much choice in life (or anything for that matter) means we can't actually make a choice! This is an important rule in neuromarketing that we teach. How much choice do you offer so you don't feel sold to but that is right number of options so a choice can be easily made. http://ed.gr/ber43

10.01.2022 [How do you build resilience and strength in your business?] I love this TED Talk! Margaret talks about how today most business's are continually looking for more efficient ways to do things, but by doing this, they are leaving themselves open to disruption in so many ways. I have to try "Love Week" with my team! This type of team activity is not efficient but what it does do is to foster thinking that is imaginative, experiential and brave and as a result has the abilit...y to set the business up to be able to deal with disruption. What are you doing in your business to build in adaptation, variation and new inventions? http://ed.gr/bsqcy
10.01.2022 Watching Philosophy: A Guide to Happiness. Ancient Greek Philosopher Epicurus said we all have the opportunity to live a happy life and money alone will never make us happy, which I have always believed. So here are his three points on what you need for happiness: 1. Surround yourself with friends. Eg He said never eat alone, always have friends around and he lived in a way where interaction with friends was everyday. 2. Be self sufficient for that feeling of freedom - including financial independence and free of judgement. 3. Live an analysed life. Take time out regularly to reflect (anxiety diminishes if we have time to think things through)
09.01.2022 If you want the job done right, do it yourself! This is a major hurdle in the way of growing for many business owners. You can't scale if you're doing all the tasks, so if you want to grow your business, you have to delegate. I see many micro-businesses where the owner gets in their own way, no one else does the job as well and cares as much! This was a major hurdle for me. I read the book 'The E-Myth' really early on when I first started my agency & it described the owner having to wear all the 'hats' in the pie shop. Getting out of this trap the pie shop owner wrote processes for each role and then hired someone for that role. As long as they do the job 80% as well as I would, I am ok!
09.01.2022 "Sleep, is unfortunately not, an optional lifestyle luxury. Sleep is a non-negotiable biological necessity. It is your life support system and it is mother natures best effort yet of immortality". Watch this fascinating TED talk on the science behind how getting enough sleep is so important for the quality and longevity of our life. I want to live life to the max, but my mindset has to change, as to do this, I have to first get a good nights sleep! http://ed.gr/bnqez
08.01.2022 [Wisdom from Charlie Munger] from his book 'Poor Charlies's Almanack' What overall advice do you have for young people? 'Spend each day trying to be a little wiser than you were when you woke up. Discharge your duties faithfully and well. Step-by-step you get ahead, but not necessarily in fast spurts. But you build discipline by preparing for fast spurts. ... Slug it out one inch at a time, day-by-day, and at the end of the day - if you live long enough - like most people, you will get out of life what you deserve.
07.01.2022 Do you struggle to stay focused and motivated when working towards goals? Well, so do I and so does majority! We have all heard the famous "it all comes down to passion" and sure you gotta be passionate about what you do and what you are trying to achieve but sometimes even if you are passionate, you will get bored... So, what to do?.... Stop seeing success as one event, see it as a process and ENJOY the process! ... http://ed.gr/bgxgj
04.01.2022 As a lover of marketing and understanding the human brain (don’t deny it; you know it’s the most interesting organ we have!), I’m always interested to conceive and discover new ways to use all the new channels that technology brings us. When my two loves are combined into Neuromarketing, we are given a fascinating insight into the sub-conscious mind that makes the buying decision for a product or service. I was excited to learn that Science can now provide insight into how different stimuli are influencing the human mind in relation to perception, memory and decision making. As a marketer, imagine how powerful this will be when modelling your next campaign. We can now use an understanding of influence as a marketing, media and promotional variable. https://www.briogroup.com.au/brain-mapping-an-influence-f/
03.01.2022 [challenge v's reward] I had an interesting discussion with Mark, my business partner today about why are we motivated to take on a challenge when we know there is going to be so much pain involved in getting to the reward. I have always thought that if the idea of the reward far outweighed the idea of what the challenge would be like, that was enough to be motivated to take action. In Mark's case he wants to ride the Taupo challenge on a bike for 6 hours and the idea of c...ompleting it is the reward we discussed. The challenge however is getting up out of bed at 4am to ride up and down Mt Cootha here in Brisbane, for training! especially on cold and dark mornings. Where the discussion went was to consider what is the underlying human need that is driving the idea of the reward. In other words what would it feel like to finish and what does that really mean? For Mark we talked about what could be his unconscious need that would be fulfilled by finishing the ride. Was it confidence, self esteem, acknowledgement? Mark is mulling on it now, but I wanted to put it out there, what needs motivate you towards a reward, that gets you taking action?
03.01.2022 Do you manage women? You need to know this! The ‘Empowerment Cycle’ is an innovative, online, published resource designed to empower all girls and women. It is a resource that explains the different phases experienced throughout a female’s menstrual cycle, with details on the positive strengths associated with each phases. The ‘Empowerment Cycle’ is designed to build understanding and boost self-esteem, allowing females to connect with their own mind and body’s inner worki...ngs, and that of their friends and family. Each phase of the menstrual cycle is named after a Greek goddess whose sensibilities mirror that of each phase. http://ed.gr/b512g See more
