06.01.2022 Letter from President RE COVID-19 The government has recently announced a return to play for community sport from July 1, with competitions to commence on Jul...y 18. Due to COVID-19 there are now many restrictions and new regulations that we must adhere to before we are permitted to enter the competition. The club remains committed to the prospect of playing footy this year, but, there are many considerations we need to address before we can do so. First of all we need a much larger volunteer base to assist in the operations of running the football club, we now need COVID safe officers 1 for Seniors & 1 for Juniors, people to help regularly clean surfaces toilets etc, disinfect footballs and goal post pads, marshalls for crowd control and social distancing, we now also have to sign in and out of grounds on both training and game days and we need this to be supervised. The current committee is simply not able to take on the additional roles and maintain the normal operations of running the club. At present there is still strict distancing and gathering rules, significantly restricting the numbers that can attend our matches and without the ability to operate bars, canteen and BBQ, together with the major loss of sponsorship this season, we have no real way of revenue raising, therefore we need to strongly consider the financial impact of competing this season and the flow on effect it will have on our viability for the 2021 season. The committee will be in contact with our sponsors, players, coaches, manager's and trainers to assess our options and make a final decision on or before the June 24 deadline for entry into this season's competition. If you are able to assist and support your club in any way now is the time to do so, please contact us and let us know if you can help..... Kind Regards Ken Smith JP President Berkeley Vale Rugby League and Sports Club 0419422612
