19.01.2022 Bermagui Veterinary Clinic are proud supporters of this incredible team in Zambia. Please consider sending Conservation South Luangwa much needed support. Covid has halted the tourist economy which feeds funds into this critical conservation work. A few years ago Dr Carl met with them and saw firsthand their wonderful work.

13.01.2022 STOP FEEDING MINCE TO MAGPIES! Snake and bird re-locator Lana Field says feeding them raw mince can cause all sorts of health dramas. "Mince is actually reall...y high in the wrong nutrients and when they eat it, it draws calcium from their bones. The other thing that happens is it can get stuck in the bottom of their beak, and it can actually rot a hole in their beak." So what can you feed them? Lana says lean strips of meat are OK Pass it on! : Daniel Sutton

10.01.2022 How can you give your pet the best chance of returning home if lost or stolen? STEP 1: MICROCHIPPING A microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and is implanted beneath the animal’s skin between the shoulders. No personal information is stored on the microchip, only the unique identification number. This is often done under anaesthetic at the time of desexing, although most dogs and cats tolerate this procedure well. In NSW, all cats and dogs, other than exempt cats a...nd dogs, must be microchipped by 12 weeks of age OR BEFORE BEING GIVEN AWAY OR SOLD, whichever happens first. STEP 2: LIFETIME REGISTRATION All cats and dogs, other than exempt cats and dogs, must be registered by six months of age. The registration fee is a once-only payment, which covers the cat or dog for its lifetime in NSW, regardless of any changes in ownership. Heavily discounted registration fees apply to desexed animals. From July 1, 2020 Annual Permits apply for undesexed cats and restricted breed dogs. STEP 3: UPDATE DETAILS Keep your pet's details updated if you move, change your phone number or rehome your pet. You can update through your local council or create an account for your pet at www.petregistry.com.au. You can download the required forms and find useful links to guide you through the process by going to the Office of Local Government website. STEP 4: COLLAR/TAG A collar and tag will provide an added layer of security for your pet and possibly see your pet returned sooner. Breakaway collars are an option for owners with concerns. See more

08.01.2022 IMPORTANT NEWS : Local COVID-19 cases (as of 3.35pm Friday 1 January 2020) Two visitors to our region have tested positive for COVID-19. The visitors travelled to New South Wales from Victoria on 30 December 2020 and ate at Bermi’s Café in Bermagui from 9am to 10am on 31 December. Contact tracing is now underway. Bega Valley Shire Mayor, Russell Fitzpatrick said it is an important reminder to remain vigilant, and if you feel unwell, even with the mildest of symptoms, self...-isolate and get tested. Here at the clinic, we are following our covid-safe protocol. ***All visitors are currently asked to wear a mask, sign in and wait outside. Eftpos only please. Let's take care of each other. 01.01.2022 All prepped ready for the first influx of birds from the storms. Two seabird patients are now on their way to a carer for treatment and rehab. Both were found ...on the Princes highway quite a distance from the sea. This highlights just how displaced wildlife can become in strong wind, high rainfall and huge swell conditions. Take care everyone and don't forget to save your local wildlife organisations hotline number to your mobile, you never know what you'll come across needing help.
01.01.2022 Coming in to see us at the clinic? Please wear a mask. Thank you.
