25.01.2022 FSC Branch has made the decision to cancel this weekend's Senior and Junior carnivals (8 & 9th February) in Narooma. The welfare of our members is front of mind and the recent trying times, combined with predicted large surf and challenging conditions mean this decision has been made with the safety of all members as a priority. Bermi Nippers will still be on at the regular time and we'll evaluate water activities on the day.

24.01.2022 **A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT** Due to the escalating circumstances around COVID 19 it's important that we keep the welfare of our members as a priority. With that in mind, and in conjunction with guidance from SLSNSW, here is our current status: - Same Wave is now cancelled for the season... - Nippers is cancelled for the season - Tathra Branch Carnival is cancelled - Patrols will continue at this stage in order to keep our community and beachgoers safe. Our patrollers will maintain social distancing advice during patrol and ensure that appropriate PPE is used during medical responses. - Emergency call out responses will remain as usual to help keep our locals and visitors safe Our Annual Presentation night may end up being held a little later in the year once things have a chance to settle down. Stay tuned on this one. Our Nippers Coordinator, Carlin, said it beautifully yesterday with the words "this is no doubt a final blow, in what has been an incredibly challenging year so far, marred by catastrophic fires and now pandemic. Our close knit surf club team has risen in support of others in our community, whilst we also suffered. For this we should be very proud. Those who's lives have been indelibly changed by the events of this summer, please know that with us, you are safe among friends." I want to reiterate publicly just how proud I am of our entire team and the way our surf club family has pulled together over the past months. We will come out the other side of this current challenge as well and we'll make time to celebrate together then. 24.01.2022 The feel of Spring is not only in the air, but also the start of the Bronze Medallion crew. Training started last night, the 29th of October 2020. A large crew of very eager people began the course. It's going to be a fun course with much to learn and a very mixed crew, each with their own skill set to offer.

22.01.2022 Several members of the Bermagui SLSC team spent the day on Haywards Beach near Camel Rock assisting with the fishing boat that ran aground. Our team was there to help ensure the safety of those on the boat while trying to refloat and running lines if needed. So sad to see a local boat on the sand but great to know everyone is safe. Special thanks to our friends at Bermagui Rural Fire Service for bringing down a pump to lend a hand. #bermagui #slsnsw #teamwork

15.01.2022 While in some ways it seems so long ago, in others it seems like just yesterday. Many of the memories are so fresh and the emotions raw as we reflect on the experiences of our own town, and our neighbours in Cobargo, Quaama, Yowrie, Wandela, Verona and more during the Black Summer bushfires. Like so many others up and down the coast we were privileged to be able to lend a hand in a time of need. The fear and devastation of that time live not only with those of us who live he...re but the many thousands of visitors who were by our side, many of whom also jumped in without hesitation to assist wherever they could. As literally thousands of evacuees came into Bermagui seeking shelter, community members, visitors and volunteers from the Bermagui SES and Marine Rescue Bermagui joined the Surf Club team to help out. We're also so grateful to the many surf lifesavers and their families from Pambula Surf Life Saving Club, Bulli SLSC, Corrimal Surf Club, Long Reef SLSC, Maroochydore SLSC and Coogee SLSC who were camping in town with the George Bass Marathon and jumped in right away to help. It was a massive team effort and we couldn't have done it without you. And to the incredible volunteers in the Rural Fire Service ... thank you! You truly are our heroes. Emotions today are heightened for many and everyone will have their own way of reflecting on their individual experiences. 13.01.2022 Lobba, Andrew Curven's nomination for Surf Lifesaver or the year We had a lovely evening celebrating Andrew (Lobba) Curven's nomination for Surf Life Saver of the Year, with Bruce, Cheryl and family, and the Curven clan. Many stories were shared through the evening with some laughter, some good times as well as some of the tough times. We were all very proud of Lobba's nomination for Surf Life Saver of the Year. His nomination is an enormous credit to him and to the efforts ...of our Bermagui Surf Life Saving club team. We were all thrilled with Will Vaughan Smith being awarded Life Guard of the Year. Well done Will. It would seem that some of Lobba's strengths run in the family with Zane Curven winning the under 13's Junior Club person of the year. We were all thrilled for Batemans Bay SLSC's for their award for their Bushfire Response Team. The beginning of the season is just around the corner and we hope for a wonderful season. I am looking forward to joining the Bermagui Surf Life Saving club and hope that I can learn as much as I can going forward from now. While he didn’t get up on the night we’re so proud and grateful for everything Lobba does for our Club and our town and the red and yellow. When Will isn’t doing his voluntee patrols with Bermi Surf Club he’s out on the beaches across the Bega Valley Shire working with the Australian Lifeguard Service. With a scorcher ahead this weekend we’re expecting lots of visitors to the beach and they’ve done a great job so far.
