25.01.2022 This FREE online summit may interest those of you who are into looking at natural ways to maintain your emotional and physical health. I particularly recommend the interview with Dr Joe Dispenza for a powerful take on getting beyond the habits of the mind to create a more fulfilling experience of life, and the documentary e-motion. Enjoy! https://www.facebook.com/100007774362083//2287197234882733/

23.01.2022 I don't think it is news to anyone anymore that sugar is a huge contributor to our current epidemics in obesity, heart disease and diabetes. Most of us consume a lot more than we should - not just in the obvious forms such as in sweets and soft drinks, but also in our juices, excessive fruit, yogurts, sauces and snack bars. You even have to remember that refined carbohydrates (think pappy white breads, white pasta, rice and anything made with refined grain flours) will also convert to glucose sugar too. This article puts a practical spin on the subject with great charts highlighting the amount of sugar in some of our favourite foods. Comment or share with someone you care about - knowledge is power!

23.01.2022 Aah, the wonderful Brene Brown. I hope she never runs out of insightful things to say and entertaining ways to say them!

23.01.2022 Ok, for those of you who have an interest in Tapping or EFT. These are 3 FREE tapping meditations to help release stress, anxiety and anger. I think it is a 'taster' to the upcoming 2018 tapping world summit which is also free I believe.

23.01.2022 I talk to and teach my clients about the benefits of mindfulness meditation all the time. It is such a useful tool for helping us to manage stress and get clarity on what is important by learning to be still and disentangle from the relentlessness of our thoughts. I came across this introductory mindfulness meditation that goes through the key parts of learning to be actively mindful. Enjoy! http://getmindful.org/what-is-mindfulness/

23.01.2022 When was the last time you felt the thrill of positive anticipation in your body that you had as a child? Would you be interested in creating it again? I noticed that I was having that experience a lot in recent years so I decided to try and reverse engineer what it was that I was doing to create it. This article is the result...

22.01.2022 I'll write a post about mindfulness soon, but in the meantime this article has some lovely ideas for teaching our children how to connect with their senses and pay attention in the moment. This skill is so helpful in teaching our little ones to become more aware of themselves and others.

22.01.2022 Some of you may know that I have started exploring the benefits of Tapping or Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) in my practice in the past year or so. It has been really effective with many of my clients, and for me also (as you know, I dont preach about anything I havent used myself!). They are a bit ahead of us with Tapping in the US and have cottoned on to the benefits of using this in their schools. I see that this could have a huge impact at the preventative level wi...th our little ones who have frightening increases in stress, anxiety and mood disorders compared to the generations that have come before. Have a look at this video for some inspiration. Yes, Tapping does look a bit silly but thats only because it is unfamiliar. Prepare to see a lot more of it happening - many professional athletes and celebrities have been using this for some years - wont be long before it becomes normalised and familiar! See more

21.01.2022 I see the impacts of chronic stress on adults AND children in my practice daily. It is such an insidious problem in our modern lives. This short video is priceless and so touching. We drink up the opportunity to be playful and relaxed like we are living in a parched desert. Enjoy!

20.01.2022 I dont think it is news to anyone anymore that sugar is a huge contributor to our current epidemics in obesity, heart disease and diabetes. 20.01.2022 This video is a fantastic, easy to follow summary of what happens when we experience chronic or persistent pain - that is, pain that persists after we would normally expect the body to have healed itself (usually 3 months). If you or someone you know is battling this take some time to watch and share. It's only five minutes.

20.01.2022 Time for some more Brene Brown, this time talking about the difference between empathy and sympathy. Such subtle but powerful differences between these two ways of responding to someone in pain, and ideas for doing it better for the people we care about.

19.01.2022 Ill write a post about mindfulness soon, but in the meantime this article has some lovely ideas for teaching our children how to connect with their senses and pay attention in the moment. This skill is so helpful in teaching our little ones to become more aware of themselves and others.

19.01.2022 I want to know who came up with the word 'blog'! Such an uninspiring name for sometimes such inspiring stuff. Anyway, when in Rome and all that... I wrote this article as my own way of thinking through my decision to blog on my website. I'm open to the idea that it might only be interesting to me!

19.01.2022 The wonderful FREE online You Can Heal Your Life Summit is coming up at the beginning of May. I always find something new and inspiring to learn and timely reminders of important things I have forgotten. Access includes a free viewing of the excellent You can heal your life movie which I highly recommend for a great summary of why our thoughts are so powerful. https://www.youcanhealyourlifesummit.com/

18.01.2022 I defy anyone to watch this and not get goose-bumps. Gratitude and appreciation are such powerful tools to increase happiness and reduce the effects of depression, stress and anxiety. The key though is not to leave it in your own head as our mind will tend to sabotage what it sees as non-essential thinking. Write down what you appreciate about yourself or others (those that have worked with me - these are 'piggy bank' deposits!), tell that person you are grateful to - don't waste these precious opportunities to remind yourself that the world is a great place to be!

18.01.2022 Do you truly believe in your capacity to change? I do, because I see it everyday in the clients I have the privilege of working with. Sometimes we think a problem is so entrenched, overwhelming or complex that nobody could possibly help us. It may surprise you to know that a well trained psychologist truly CAN imagine how it might be to travel through life in your shoes and, because they are not caught up in the problem with you, they can often see solutions that are hidden f...rom your view. A REALLY GREAT psychologist will also teach you how to do that job for yourself so that you can move through life with greater confidence and skills to overcome future obstacles. Check out this short clip from the Australian Psychological Society who have just launched a campaign to get this message out to more people. Please share it with anyone you feel might need a little nudge towards getting some help for themselves. See more

17.01.2022 This is what it looks and feels like when we are aligned and connected at our deepest level. We often shy away from being vulnerable with others but if we can find the courage to let our authentic self shine through it is mesmerising and powerful! Hang in past the first minute to get to the beauty of this share

16.01.2022 This upcoming free docu-series by Dr Mark Hyman may inspire those of you interested in alternative perspectives on why we experience disorders such as anxiety, depression, Alzheimer's and ADD/ADHD. It will be looking at ways that our body, food and environment can cause these issues - rather than psychological trauma or dysfunction. I'm pretty sure he will also be talking about things you can do for yourself to optimise your brain function. It is only free for a few days from 18th October so be quick if you are interested! http://brokenbrain.com/trailer/?oprid=194

16.01.2022 What you believe about yourself and the expectations you have of the outcome of a treatment or other course of action can strongly influence whether you are successful. The placebo effect is not something to be trifled with! This is a great article from a writer I respect who tries to tie science to the less tangible and mysterious aspects of our experience.

15.01.2022 I'm highly recommending you take advantage of this opportunity to see the newest documentary by Pedram Shojai 'Prosperity'. It is currently airing for free if you are quick. He is a wellness advocate but is also a man with a broad social conscience who makes documentaries designed to educate and inspire healthy global change. This particular documentary is looking at ways we can shift the way we do business and our consumer choices to lead everyone into prosperity. https://go.well.org/prosperity/movie/view/

13.01.2022 Just one more! I get very excited about the research exploring the links between gut health and mental health - the possibility of a simpler approach to some of our mental health problems. This research has implications for those suffering anxiety and depression and even autism, Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinsonism! Whilst I don't believe improved gut health is a cure all, there are certainly promising signs that getting back to basics in terms of good nutrition, social connectedness and exercise could make a profound impact on our quality of life.

10.01.2022 Looking forward to listening to some of the speakers in this FREE online series featuring some of the current thought leaders on the topic of the rise of the feminine. For those who haven't already noticed, we are living in extraordinary times where the role of the feminine is being explored in new ways - this is not feminism in the old sense that required a fair bit of 'man-bashing' and trying to beat them at their own 'game'. This new journey is about helping women to step up on the global stage as leaders and 'midwives' to birth a new, more healthy way of living on our planet through using our unique skills in healing, connecting and nurturing. If this idea tantalises you in any way then I encourage you to sign up!

10.01.2022 If you, like me, are very concerned about the phenomenal increases in ill health - both mental and physical in recent decades then you may be interested in this free doc-series that is running over the next week or so. I am particularly concerned for the health of our children who have illnesses we never experienced when we were young, and who are suffering anxiety and depression in huge numbers right now. This doc-series is entitled 'GMO's revealed' but it is much bigger tha...n that, and having just watched the first episode I can say that it is really well made and very thorough. It is looking at the way we have been using pesticides and herbicides in our food chain and the implications of these over recent decades. Really eye-opening stuff and very relevant to the future of our planet as well as the health of ourselves and those we love. As always, this is a limited time airing so get on to it quickly if you want to watch. https://youtu.be/xqNDaL4eqC0 See more

07.01.2022 Something to share! I have just enrolled with the Institute of Integrative Nutrition to exercise my interest in all things health and nutrition and place another skill under my belt to support my treasured clients. Stand by for more postings in my quest to power up psychological health with nutrition!

07.01.2022 I want to know who came up with the word blog! Such an uninspiring name for sometimes such inspiring stuff. Anyway, when in Rome and all that... 07.01.2022 Many people don't understand that their thoughts dictate how they feel and behave. As Buddha apparently said - 'what we think, we become'. Our thoughts often define how we experience a situation and all too often this is negative. If you can change your thoughts and perceptions of the world to something more positive or empowering you can completely shift your experience. The article below talks about the ways that mentally resilient people engage in the world through actively harnessing their thoughts, emotions and actions in a cohesive and meaningful way. Really good stuff!

06.01.2022 Marie Forleo is someone I have a great admiration for as a genuinely authentic person and talented business woman. She does regular interviews with interesting authors, thought leaders and business people through her website. This interview with Dr Shefali Tsabary struck me as being reflective of the experience of many of my clients and the work that we do together trying to connect them to their own, authentic 'inner voice'. It's not just relevant to parents but to all of us who get distracted away from hearing our true needs by our own past baggage and ego.

06.01.2022 Take a look at this Mind Body Green article for some ideas on what to do when you are having a bad time of it. I particularly like the statement: 'Life is full of stimuli; the only thing we can control is how we choose to respond. When you really take the time to think about it, everything happening around us is neutral and meaningless until the point that we give it meaning'.

06.01.2022 Chronic stress is something that invades all our lives and puts us at higher risk of developing mental and physical health problems. It also makes us cranky and sucks our energy and vitality. It doesn't need to be this way and with a bit of thought stress can be managed as an asset rather than a drain. Check out my post below for some ways to become the master of your stress!

05.01.2022 Thought this may interest some of you :) The research is catching up on what many alternative practitioners have known for some time - that essential oils can have a substantial impact on our health and wellbeing. Oils for energy, oils for concentration, oils for anxiety, oils for sleep and digestive health etc. It sounds like this FREE course will be quite comprehensive!

04.01.2022 Have you ever contemplated talking to a therapist or life coach? Many people sit on the fence with this, waiting until they are very stuck or distressed before they take the leap. Often they hold back because of lack of information so I'm looking to address that here. Have a read or share if you or someone you care about could benefit from some extra support or guidance.

04.01.2022 I love the Internet! I notice a growing movement towards generosity and sharing in this arena with so many free resources now available to anyone who cares to look. This Hay House summit is one of them. There are 100 free interviews, audio's and screenings from thought leaders in the fields of self-development, spirituality, health and mental wellness. Great to listen to whilst you're travelling to work, cleaning the house or enjoying some quiet down time. It only has a few days left but I encourage you to check it out and forward the link to anyone who you think could do with some inspiration.

03.01.2022 Are you someone who avoids conflict like the plague? I am. Over the years I have got better at working out which battles are worth fighting despite my fear, but I still find it hard. Maybe this is you too? My latest post is about learning to appreciate the role of conflict in relationships and it is chock full of ideas for managing it in a healthy way. Enjoy!

02.01.2022 This article relates to something I observe time and time again in my psychology practice. Clients reach me after years of ignoring the warning signs that all is not well. Often they have become so unwell in their mind or body that they are forced to listen - the body just shouts louder and louder until you pay attention!

02.01.2022 This upcoming FREE online summit may interest some of you. The topic is self-acceptance - learning to accept who you are despite your quirks, perceived failings, negative emotions and insecurities. Moving forward in a meaningful way in your life with courage, purpose, clarity and authenticity. It starts September 11.

02.01.2022 Your gut may be making you anxious! We know that our stress and anxiety can influence our gut but this article from 'The Conversation' explores the possibility that up to 50% of those experiencing gut issues along with mood disorders such as anxiety may be doing so BECAUSE OF the gut issues. If you have gut problems such as IBS or Crohn's and later developed problems with anxiety or depression this article could shed some light on why this is so.
