25.01.2022 Every reason to be stoked! This is my favourite thing to hear from a client. A few weeks ago Bianca saw a deadlift video and told me she’d love to do that. ... So we start working on it. This morning Bianca had an awesome session and she was stoked because : * She’s established a training routine * She’s consistent with it * She’s found what she loves * She’s getting stronger * She’s feeling better * Her big deadlift number is now within reach! I’m stoked for you Bianca! #smashingit



21.01.2022 I’ve said it before - numerous times! I will continue to say it hoping every time at least one person believes it. It stems from a series of conversations I had last week with different people. Your worth is NOT determined by : ... * How bloated your belly is (that was a conversation with myself!) * What your make up looks like * What size your body is * What your shoulders look like (true story) * What your tan looks like What determines your worth is : * would you come if I called and needed you at 1am? * Would you sit beside me in silence when I’m sad? * Would I be able to trust you with a secret? * Would you help me bury a body if I killed someone (joke ) The only person who cares about what you look like is YOU. As a PT I can still give you a good session and potentially make a difference in your life whether my belly is bloated or not! 100% intrinsic guys - remember that!

18.01.2022 Progress Often times people see more weight in the bar as a key indicator of progress. Yes, this is an awesome, very real way to see your progress. My clients are very often celebrating a heavier bar having worked really hard for four weeks. ... But it’s not the only thing that matters. Progress is also : * Better technique under a loaded bar * More confidence under a loaded bar * Increased joint stability through a specific range of motion * Pain free movements * Higher rate of consistency in your training pattern * Fuelling properly before and after your session * Typically sleeping approx 8+ hours per night So don’t be disillusioned if you’re not seeing big numbers on the bar as often as you would like!! Celebrate all the different ways that you can progress. With patience and dedication, progressing like this will lead to progressions like this : 80 * 90 * 100

04.01.2022 Grip Strength @beameschelsea is starting a new training block with Romanian Deadlift as a focus point. As a result grip strength will be invaluable to her success.... I find a lot of clients struggle with grip strength and don’t realise it until they need to carry/hold a weight for a specified distance/time. With this in mind I’ve included a suitcase carry with a difference into Chelsea’s program. Fifteen steps out and back (changing hands at the half way point) with a 30kg barbell. This is hugely challenging which Chelsea discovered in yesterday’s session. It hits core (anti lateral flexion) as well as grip strength! Give it a go and see how you get on........
