12.01.2022 Thought I would share another recent lovely letter from a reader's mum. Feedback like this never fails to give me a lift. 'I bought the first two of your Ridgeview riding club series two months ago from my than 6 years old daughter's school auction event. As you can guess she loves horses and was thrilled when I read the books to her. At that time she was still slowly learning to read and those were the first ever chapter books she had. She loved the stories so much that to m...y amazement read them herself in a very short span of time. I started looking for the other six books and thanks to Amazon we finally received them one by one from different sellers around the world by the end of the summer. Now my daughter is 7 years old and is taking her second run on reading the whole series and I myself just finished Team Challenge. I want to say that we love your books and to thank you for putting your passion, talent and imagination into this lovely series. I wish we could find more of your books easily available in libraries and bookstores. I find that the books are not only inspiring her to read but are helping her set up goals and expand her dreams as well. For example after reading the books she started talking to me how she wants to work in a stable when she is old enough and since we are in a stage where we are looking for options to buy a home, she is now very much open to move out of the city where it is possibly more affordable to live. I really like how the story implements so many real life experiences and situations and is helping the readers to open their minds to what is possible for them to achieve. Best wishes from Sofia and her mom Victoria from Vancouver, Canada

07.01.2022 Blogging is so much more fun than housework!

05.01.2022 Sharing this wonderful correspondence from the mum of one of my readers. This is why I write. Dear Bernadette I was wondering if you would be kind enough to write to my 10 year old daughter Elyce to tell her about your inspiration for Naughty Norton the star of your Pony Patch series. Is Norton based on a horse you knew or a collection of experiences or were you a girl like Molly and couldn't see any flaws in the horse you loved? Will there be any anymore books about Norton ...in the future or have you got some unpublished stories hidden away? Elyce has been crazy about Naughty Norton and the Pony Patch series has been her passion for years. Elyce often carries her Naughty Norton book around. To School, to bed in the car, shops etc. Her Norton book is her most treasured book it was also difficult to find as most book stores are out of stock. We have had a lot of fun looking searching for second hand books and have finally found two more, it is a bit like looking for the holy grail. Elyce recently dressed up as Norton, not Molly, for "Book week" and made a poster of her Naughty Norton book for the class. We even managed to find a Cheval Ceramic horse in charity shop that looks so much like him and she likes to draw his picture from the books illustrations. I believe Naughty Norton and the Pony patch series will will be one her most treasured childhood memories. So thank you! It would be wonderful if you could write or send her an email about him. I know she would treasure it. Hi Bernadette Thank you so much for your letter and book. It arrived today and Elyce was stunned and amazed. I took it with me when I collected her from school. We stopped at a café and I asked her what was her favourite book and author and of course she said Naughty Norton and you! I then gave her your parcel. Elyce was shocked. She couldn't believe you sent her a letter and a book. She had a smile from ear to ear and asked "How did she/you know about her and her love of Naughty Norton". It was a wonderful moment and one she will remember all her life. Elyce wants to write and thank you herself so expect a letter soon! Yes, of course, you can use the letter I sent to you on your web site. Elyce loves that idea too! I want you to know just how much it meant to Elyce to receive your mail and the wonderful gift. She liked what you said about Naughty Norton and where your inspiration came from. I really appreciate your time and consideration you made a little girl very happy. Elyce had no idea she would be able to communicate with you, that you are a real person and not just part of fiction. Your communication brought fiction to life and seeing Elyce's face when she received your mail was one of life's special moments. Thank you!

05.01.2022 This is a fantastic showcase of art and writing. A wonderful opportunity for for school aged young people.

05.01.2022 So after a couple of years of stops and starts I can finally reveal a new look website. Many many thanks to Bruce Lawson for so generously helping me start this off way back then and for designing the very cool wallpaper. Now if I can just get more consistent with my blog posts...

03.01.2022 For all you riders with long maned horses.

02.01.2022 An authors contribution to a child's literacy development extends way beyond writing the books. More funding is needed for schools to provide author visits.

01.01.2022 For those of you who read my recent post and the beautiful emails from a reader's mum, today I received this from Elyce herself. A heartwarming and precious gift in the mail. Thank you Elyce, you made my day!
