21.01.2022 THORACIC MOBILITY . Following on from my previous post, here are my TOP 3 thoracic mobility exercises. To start, grab a foam roller. All you need is to block out and allocate 10 minutes to yourself and work on counteracting your "stiff back." . 1. BOW & ARROW - While sidelying, place your arms together and grab onto your imaginary bow. As you pull back, exhale and try to rotate your shoulder to touch the ground. Make sure your hips + legs are still and don't rotate... with your body. . 2. THREAD THE NEEDLE - Exhale and use the foam roller to rotate and control your movement. Pause. Using your back muscles, retract the foam roller back to its original position. . 3. THORACIC EXTENSION - Open up your chest by resting your arms against your head. Adjust the foam roller to target a different thoracic range. . TIP: Aim to do 10 controlled repetitions for each side. Control your breathing throughout and don't rush! . 16.01.2022 ATTENTION ALL OFFICEWORKERS: What is a "perfect posture"? Can you sit with your back straight all day? Did your parents say that if you sat with a "perfect posture" you wouldn't get back pain? . Let's be practical here. I myself can't sit in a chair for more then 30 miniutes without slouching over. It's practically impossible to sit upright in a "perfect posture" all day. Does that mean you won't get pain? No! . Solution: Break up very hour at the 00:50 minute mark - ...get up and go for a walk, have a cup of water and mobilise for 5-10 mins. Movement is key. . 12.01.2022 . It’s crazy to think there’s an indefinite pause on sport for the foreseeable future.
