21.01.2022 Tip for a hot day. Chickens eat less during hot weather so it is a good idea to ensure that the feed they receive is dense in nutrients: higher in vitamins and... minerals rather than protein and fat, as these will make your chickens hotter. Watermelon is a great treat to give your chickens in hot weather. For more great tips and all you need to know to keep your chooks healthy and content, pick up a copy of our new book- Happy Hens. http://ab.co/1Xcvfmc See more

08.01.2022 Winter Pain Spring Rain There is a yearning growing inside, that thrills A feeling to be free Where the land spreads to the far off hills... Is a place I wanna be This place of tranquillity in his pictures And calling out to me To live the life of times in the britches In a world you are lucky to see The men of the land are a hardy bunch No matter the unknown weather In times of dust bowl drought, they hunch To solve a problem together In times of flooded fields, they dream Of another tomorrow to tether These families of the food bowl, our cream Need friends in all weather You feel their pain and hear the strain When there is no rain You see the death, lines of animals bereft When there is little left You hear the suffering and the conferring The need for nurturing You are aware of the cost when lives are lost And a final line is crossed We need to reach out to them, as they are us In this our nations need There are many to nourish, they do without fuss As this nation they feed If there are no farmers means no produce In a barren fertile land Along the long paddock they head to reduce To keep what stock they band So we need rain to make the rivers run And replenish dusty dams To give life back to the farmers in some sun With fields of fattening lambs Cattle and fodder well make in the good times Thats just around the corner As we wait for the wind to sing in the chimes And the drought, we will morn her. Phil McManus 6/8/18 8pm after seeing John Watkins photos and invite to go to Springsure
