22.01.2022 The Barmera Red Cross, in conjunction with the Berri Barmera Council have installed a memorial seat outside the Barmera Library to recognize Di Tilletts valuable contribution to the town. Di, who passed away in 2018, was a much loved Librarian at the Barmera Library for 40 years and a longstanding member, Vice President and Emergency Services Liaison Officer of the Barmera Red Cross branch. A plaque has been ordered and will be added soon. Vale Di!

22.01.2022 Both our Berri and Barmera Libraries are now closed due to the 6 day COVID-19 shut-down as advised by the South Australian Government. This closure runs from Thursday 19th November 2020 until Tuesday 24th November 2020. At this stage we plan to open again on the morning of Wednesday 25th November. The situation is fluid and after re-opening there may be extra restrictions in place but we will update these when we find out more. Any library items due over this 6 day closure ...period will be automatically extended. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Please watch this space for any updates. 20.01.2022 Today we were lucky to have SA author Leonie Kelsall visit Barmera Library and last night at Berri library. Leonie‘s book The farm at Peppertree Crossing is an engaging and charming story of life in a small SA country town, with lots of layers of plot, personalities and family secrets. If you missed meeting Leonie and hearing her talk about her writing adventures, you can place a hold on one of her books. Leonie also writes as Laney Kaye - check out her Facebook page. Thanks so much Leonie for generously giving your time to talk to local Riverland readers. We learnt a lot and loved it all! And to Taylor for being Leonie’s best critic, instagrammer and country chauffeur and book seller. Looking forward to seeing the new book in July.

12.01.2022 SCHOOL HOLIDAYS - The winter school holidays are here, that means ACTIVITIES! The Berri Barmera Library Service together with The Berri Visitor Information Centre and Barmera Visitor Centre (Barmera Central) have created some great fun for you all. Each location has an activity for you to collect and complete during the school holidays. ... All activities are free! We have also made a passport for you to collect. Your passport will give you the change to collect 4 stamps, you can collect these stamps by receiving an activity, once you have ALL 4 stamps return your passport to any of the above locations by 17th July 2020 to go into a draw to win a PRIZE! Unfortunately our activities will not be held at our locations but we would still love to see your creations! 06.01.2022 SHARE YOUR MEMORIES & PHOTOGRAPHS- Barmera, Monash and Glossop were all proclaimed as townships in 1921 and are approaching their centenary year in 2021. To help them commemorate 100 years of history, the Berri Barmera Council seeks people with memories and stories (including photographs, movies, and other memorabilia) of living and growing up in the Barmera, Monash and Glossop districts. 06.01.2022 Once upon a time, a brown hen followed a group of children to the Barmera Library. The chicken was looking a bit lost and we named her the Book Chook! Well - we all like stories with happy endings and this is one! The owner and chicken (Molly) were reunited and stopped to read a book before all lived happily ever after! The end!
