23.01.2022 With agricultural shows being cancelled across the board this year, we invite you to be a part of ABC Victoria's Virtual Show. Thursday morning the 10 September between 10 and 11am, ABC Victoria is hosting a virtual country show on the radio, and they need your entries. Entering is easy just take a photo of your entry, tell us your name, your age, which section you’re entering, where you’re from and your phone number, and e-mail it through to [email protected] by midn...ight on Monday, September 7. You can enter in the following categories: * Best Scones (four on a plate, one broken open, one upside down) * Best Decorated Cupcake * Best homemade face mask (you can model it if you like!) * Best Pet (Don’t forget to tell us a little about why your pet is so special) * Best Floral Arrangement * Best home grown fruit and/or vegetable (you can feature one, or if you grow a lot of stuff, show us a plate of your home grown produce) * Best limerick about Coronavirus (or what you’re looking forward to about coming out of lockdown) Entries will be judged by independent judges and their decisions will be final. Winners will receive a specially printed show ribbon and an ABC show bag. 03.01.2022 As you've driven through our gates, have you ever stopped to take in their history? Our Alexander Gates were donated by Cr WF (Bill) Alexander (BEM). Bill was a life member of the Berrigan A & H Society. The gates were constructed in 1958, then relocated and recessed in time for our centenary in 1991. 01.01.2022 Feel like baking? We're showcasing some winning recipes! #WouldBeShowWeek Recipe for Sponge Cake from 'The Country Show Cookbook'. Recipe contributed by Helen Wright of Kyogle Show - The Kyogle PA & H Show Society.... Ingredients 125g caster sugar 4 eggs, separated 70g cornflour 1 rounded dessertspoon plain flour 1 teaspoon baking powder vanilla Method 1. Preheat oven to 180C 2. Grease and paper 2 sponge tins 3. Beat eggwhites until white and fluffy. Slowly add caster sugar and beat until dissolved. 4. Add egg yolks and just beat in, don't over beat. Add vanilla. 5. Meanwhile, sift dry ingredients 3 times. Add flours to egg mixture and fold until all mixed. 6. Pour mixture into tins, an equal amount in each. Smooth out top and drop tins on the table 1 or 2 times. Cook for 20 minutes. 7. Turn out on to cake coolers lined with a tea towel. Cover until cold then fill with cream filling or whipped cream.
