25.01.2022 It feels great to start the week with a chorus of positive feedback! I recently finished developing a website for a client, and they sent it to their suppliers for feedback. Thankfully, they all loved it, as does the client. Happy days!
25.01.2022 Aaaaaand... exhale. The week is DONE Im feeling good cause I got about 80% of the weeks To Do List done. ... And given Ive crisis schooled two little people, Im taking 80% done as a 100% WIN. Enjoy your iso weekend
24.01.2022 "It was everything I didn't know I wanted". High praise from a client who really DOES know what she wants! For me, half my job is giving the client what they want (after all, I want to make them happy ) but the other half? It's ever-so-gently pushing them to try something new, to be bolder, to stand out, to dare greatly. ... It's a fine line, as my natural instinct is to err on the side of 'directive' or 'I know you said you wanted THAT but what you really need is THIS' See more
23.01.2022 Have you ever tried to work during a virtual trombone lesson? No?! I can highly recommend it if youd like to feel scatter-brained, confused and generally unproductive. Noise cancelling headphones are on next weeks shopping list!
22.01.2022 For all the technology we have at our disposal today, sometimes nothing beats good ol pen and paper. Ive tried a few fancy-pants website planning tools, but I find pen and paper work best for me. On paper, I can plan the structure, content and functionality of a website without getting bogged down in technical detail.... And, yes, I do present my drawings to clients before moving to the technical build. At first, I was worried Id appear unprofessional but, to tell you the truth, they dont care! Theyre actually excited that someone has spent the time to understand their business and propose a create a custom-made design that will achieve their goals. Heres to low tech solutions with high tech outcomes See more
22.01.2022 This. Is. My. Life
21.01.2022 Good grief, this is brilliant.
21.01.2022 Im learning the tough lessons today, folks. Button on clients website disappears: one hour + tech support to find it. Button styling isnt right: one hour to realise the code was missing a semi colon. ONE SEMI COLON ; ... Time for a cuppa See more
21.01.2022 This is what happens when you know your target market and you create kick-ass content that rocks their world. These are the results of a TWO DAY promo campaign for a local, Blue Mountains-based business. 12,000+ video impressions... 6,400+ video views 1,600+ enagements This isnt a big business. In fact, the business *only* had 300 followers (obvs they have a lot more now!). So, what did we get right? We made a rough, one-take only video We partnered with another local business We offered a timely, desirable prize (it was only worth $68 but is was DESIRABLE) We asked the community to share the post for a chance to win. And the community loved it! And so did the client
21.01.2022 Im looking forward to working with Ro from @tildeathdous.partyy on another client photoshoot today. Ro is a man who gets the job done, no matter what. This photo was taken last year and if you look closely, youll see Ros on crutches. He broke his foot the week before the shoot but that didnt stop him getting the shot. He crawled, scraped and bumped his way through the bush to get the light juuuust right ... I cant wait to see what magic he captures at todays shoot. Ill share the finished client-approved shots ASAP
20.01.2022 "Where you slept last night is where youll need to stay for the next six weeks". - Dan Andrews, MP. Stage 4 restrictions, State of Disaster declared and a 8pm-5am curfew. Sobering news for the people of Victoria.

19.01.2022 Its easy to be distracted and feel overwhelmed by *all.the.things* that need doing when you run a small business (or big businesses, for that matter!). I know there are a bazillion tasks I could do each day to move my business forward BUT theres no use pulling all-nighters and feeling bad about the things I havent achieved. Instead, I focus on the small, achievable, everyday tasks that really matter... and I do them every day. ... Consistency beats intensity

15.01.2022 My first dine-in coffee since March, and boy did @jacklittlecafe deliver
14.01.2022 ... and when you reach capacity, outsource! Usually, local businesses outsource to me when they dont have the time, energy or expertise to plan and implement their marketing strategy. But this week Im at capacity so Ive outsourced to two new subcontractors One is a local up-and-coming copywriter working on a website project and the other is a Google Ads expert thatll make my oh-so-average campaigns convert like crazy!... So, yeah, by all means, attempt things beyond your capacity but also, know your limits (in time, energy and expertise) and hire talented people to slingshot you forward See more
14.01.2022 You gotta love a photoshoot with a puppy I wish I snapped a good close up - he was too quick! The shoot is for a Blue Mountains-based pest control business that uses a termite detecting Cocker Spaniel named Ess to sniff out nasty termites in hard to reach places. Hes a character! ... I cant wait to share the final images (and a new website to match!) next week. Thanks again to @tildeathdous.partyy for the fab images.
14.01.2022 Happy #websitelaunchday @warrimookitchens If you live in the Blue Mountains, youll know Warrimoo Kitchens. 14.01.2022 What a spectacular way to end the week Weve been bike riding most days this week, discovering new tracks and lookouts, like this one. Weve been back to this spot twice and might even head back tonight to watch the predicted meteor shower ... Now, to organise takeaway for dinner
13.01.2022 This week, my social media has been full of #naidoc2020 celebrations. There is much to celebrate, much to learn and much to heal. Always Was, Always Will Be. ... Incredible art by @matakupaatarts , run on the lands of Wemba Wemba Nation by Kenita-Lee McCartney. Her mobs are from the saltwater on the Peninsular, the rivers in the north west to the mountains in the North East. Wemba Wemba, Neri Neri, Wiradjuri, Wotjiboluk and Boon Wurrung.
13.01.2022 Brilliant copywriting from #nswpolice #iwishiwasthisgood
10.01.2022 It's here! It's been a loooong week We are doing a not-so-small reno on our home (it was booked pre-covid) and even though husbeast assured me we could live in the house the whole time, after 7 months of working alongside builders, landscapers, painters, floor sanderers and sparkys we've cracked and moved to my mother-in-laws. ... Ah, the serenity So, yes, it's quiet during the day BUT the school run is 2 hours a day plus managing a team of tradies isn't for the faint hearted... and then there's work, which I never seem to have enough time to do. But my clients are happy and targets are being met, so I'm clocking off for a couple of days. Yahoo. See ya on Monday See more
10.01.2022 An easy start to the long weekend #mylegsaresore #arewethereyet
09.01.2022 You know its been a while when Facebook reminds you to post Well, here it is!
09.01.2022 Crystal-clear vision. That's what Jessica Claire from The Simple Method has in SPADES Jess came to me with a clear vision for her logo: a crisp wreath with simple foliage, a pop of colour and a handwritten font (swipe to see Jess' awesome sketch). ... I'll be honest I tried to steer Jess away from the wreath. Try this, I said. What about that? But no! She was having none of it 'I have a vision!' she said... OK, she didn't *quite* say that, but you know what I mean. Jess is a woman with a vision and no marketing woman was going to stop her! And I'm glad she held her ground. The logo is BEAUTIFUL (even if I do say so myself). Oh, and if you're in need of a kick-ass VA (that's a Virtual Assistant ) reach out to Jess at www.thesimplemethod.com.au - she's the best! See more
09.01.2022 Look at those numbers! Just two posts and *BOOM* an 888% increase in reach and a 1,267% increase in engagement compared to last month. Im not kidding! ... You know what? This client is an *AWESOME* local business, and even though they were posting to Facebook week in, week out, they just couldnt nail the messaging + tone + branding combo like an experienced social media manager* can. Now, before you think Ive gotten ahead of myself, I know its only two posts. Theres much work to do... but its a rippa start What a sweet way to end the Easter long weekend. Now... Im off to camp in my backyard! * thats me, in case you were wondering
08.01.2022 Those were the days... hanging out in a coffee shop... drinking coffee... awkwardly posing for photos But seriously, I love (loved) working in coffee shops. Not just for the caffeine but for the company (I usually see someone I know), the eavesdropping (yeah, I know I shouldnt listen in but Im curious, okay?!) and - very seriously - I get business.... Two of my favourite clients found me in a coffee shop. You see, they were curious too clearly my kind of people! I know Ill be back at my local coffee shop in no time. And until then Ill be content with copious amounts of tea and the odd takeaway See more
07.01.2022 Well, this little Fathers Day promo went B.A.N.A.N.A.S To be honest, Fathers Day kinda crept up on me (and my client ) so we quickly fashioned together this little promo with a $200 prize, and, as you can see, it went completely bonkers! 34,000+ reach... 4,000+ engagements 523 shares 154 new page likes Whatd we get right? Partnered with another small Blue-Mountains based business Sourced a desirable prize Made a one-take-only video (FB loves video content) Made it easy to enter and share And voila, promo success! If you want to use social media to get your business in front of thousands of locals, give me a call on 0401 997 603 or shoot me a PM. I can help with social media strategy and management
06.01.2022 "I dont want my photo on social media" - said every client ever, except one (you know who you are ). I get it. Im an extrovert and still feel squeamish about putting my face out there.... But for me to grow my business - and for you to grow yours - we need to build a personal brand as well as a business brand. As the old saying goes, people buy from people they know, like and trust. And to know, like and trust us, they need to see our smiling faces. So, heres a photo of my smiling face LOL #squeamishextrovert #knowliketrust
05.01.2022 Looks like Ive scored the kitchen desk today Im looking forward to getting back to work after a lovely long weekend. Todays agenda: admin, plan and confirm a zoom meeting, SEO copywriting, and coffee
05.01.2022 As lovely as it is to go away at Easter, Im very much enjoying a slooooow long weekend at home. Weve felled trees, cooked, crafted, drank tea in the sun, and generally slothed about (apart from a couple of sneaky runs ). I wish you and your family a safe, relaxing, stay-at-home long weekend. ... this amazing shot is from @pencilshavings
04.01.2022 I came across this lovely surprise on my run this morning. It provided a great opportunity to reflect... and, who am I kidding, it was a great excuse to stop running for a bit
03.01.2022 Turns out, I needed some peace. Two weeks of school holiday juggling + activities most days + a 7th birthday party to organise and host, I woke up yesterday with a cracking headache. Instead of pushing through I took the day off and bummed around the house, drank tea in the sunshine, read a book and enjoyed the peace and quiet that comes with a proper day off.... And, guess what? Headache gone. Peace restored See more
03.01.2022 This school holiday period is the first time my husband has taken leave specifically so I can work Ive had two full days of uninterrupted work time, which has been terrific. Im surprised how much I can get done when Im not making snacks, breaking up fights or cleaning the kitchen ... Todays list of work-from-home-during-school-holidays achievements include: Gym workout Procurement of noise cancelling headphones Website copywriting completed for a new client Google My Business listing created for same client No cleaning of kitchen A great day, I say See more
02.01.2022 This has been my breathing spot of late, Tunnel View lookout. You might know it if youre a Blue Mountains local. Its an easy run from the National Park gate (I dont wear a fancy watch, so I have no idea of distance ). The lookout is spectacular, no matter the time of day. ... Standing here, I feel small and temporary. My worries feel distant. I can breathe, recalibrate, and come home.

Strictly speaking, its a parenting book but Im finding its relevant for all kinds of relationships... spouses, friends, colleagues. Def worth a read Have you read anything good lately? See more
