22.01.2022 The other beautiful thing at Berrinba wetlands this morning was two families of Magpie geese. The communal nest has been in the long grass just near Stonehenge all this time. The little goslings are really active. I also spotted in the same area a pair of Australian Jacanas. Lilly trotters. Berrinba is so lovely at the moment.

22.01.2022 We dont hear this enough.

22.01.2022 There was 100+ pellies at Berrinba. I have found a nice place to see them launch from their roosting place.

21.01.2022 From your Trail Blazer friends at neighbourly Karawatha today. Very isolated and enjoying the sunshine.

20.01.2022 Happy Mother's Day to all the Berrinba Trail Blazing Mothers

19.01.2022 What a beautiful morning at Berrinba this spring day...

19.01.2022 Berrinba was very peaceful this morning and there was 75 Pelicans. I met with Councillor Jon Raven on Wednesday and expressed our need for some more NO FISHING signage, more bins, more seats and improvements to the Interpretative Centre. Councillor Raven agreed with me on all the issues I raised. Lets hope he gets back in and we can see Berrinba get even better.

18.01.2022 110+ pellies this morning and I got close to a White-bellied sea eagle eyeing off the huge Carp and Tilapia that are providing the food for our bird life.

17.01.2022 Beautiful bark at Berrinba.....

16.01.2022 Spring has definitely sprung at the Berrinba Wetlands. Many pellies have pink bills which means they might getting ready to pair up and mate. Several magpie geese have returned and are looking healthy. Three Royal spoonbills are keeping a Striated Heron company. Water level is good and lots of trees are blooming and bearing loads of seeds.

16.01.2022 Africa. What a country

15.01.2022 What a cracking morning it was at Berrinba Wetlands this morning.

15.01.2022 I believe in miracles..... We thought little cyggie was taken or lost, but today it's back with mum and dad and it now has white flight feathers. What a fantastic sight this morning. It looks healthy and I'm sure is now ready for the next phase of it's life.

14.01.2022 What a beautiful morning at Berrinba this morning. I had a nice look at the 65+ Pelicans and then walked with the Berrinba Bushcare group. All great at Berrinba, no Covid19 there.

14.01.2022 What beautiful mornings we are having at Berrinba lately. I'll let my pics tell the story...

13.01.2022 Had a lovely walk at Berrinba this morning, saw Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoos from the carpark https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow-tailed_black_cockatoo Then late Roger and I met up with a fully grown old man Goanna at the platform.

13.01.2022 Berrinba most recent.

12.01.2022 The big wet at Berrinba. From dry beds before Christmas to gushing floods. Luckily for us, the waters subsided as quickly as its risen.

12.01.2022 This morning we did a bit off trail adventure. Berrinba is beautiful....

11.01.2022 Mondays Berrinba. Winters coming our way.

09.01.2022 "How lucky we are.... " is something that one of the walkers said to me on Saturday. Berrinba Wetlands is one of the things that has helped us through these difficult times. We are still walking and practicing Social Distancing and definitely not congregating as a group. The walking trails are open and everybody is conforming to the rules, but still getting the fresh air and exercise to stay fit. The birds and the wetlands are looking great.

09.01.2022 Berrinba can be fun, healthy and even educational. Checkout the new signs that can give us pointers on how best to enjoy all the amazing features of our beautiful wildlife reserve. Even the pellies are teaching us how to social distance. Meet up with us for a look around and a walk every day at 0600 or 0700am in the carpark.

09.01.2022 Last week at Berrinba. A foggy start one morning, and a different feel later in the day

08.01.2022 Berrinba is called a wetlands and it's living up to it's name. A flooded Scrubby Ck has raised the water level by over 3 metres, but it has settled back down to about 800mls above normal. Very muddy path but over all it looks fairly good. A bit of sunshine and it will be lush and green. All good at Berrinba.

07.01.2022 Berrinba was looking fantastic this morning. Water level was so low and then is was over a metre higher than normal. Now it's looking green and clean. Lots of families with and without feathers. We are blessed when we take the time to observe the beauty that is there for us to see. Happy New Year.

07.01.2022 It was all go go go at Berrinba this morning. Got a real close view of the swan family. Saw a keel back snake, sometimes called a water tiger. Then had to rescue a sick pelican, but the poor Ambulance driver walked into his tow bar, ouch..... I'm glad to be home.

06.01.2022 The Berrinba Wetlands is looking fantastic at the moment. Water levels are up, heaps of wildlife. Isn't amazing how fast it greens up after rain. We have seen Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoo (3) twice in the last few days. Goannas are also about, it's all just beautiful....

05.01.2022 A big thanks to the 15 volunteers who picked up about 20 bags of rubbish at Berrinba Wetlands for Clean up Australia Day. It was organized by Roxanne at Berrinba Wetlands land care group. CcrJon Raven gave up a couple hours of his valuable time as well. Well done all, about 200 KGS of rubbish removed from our beautiful reserve.

05.01.2022 Australian Wood Duck is a native duck that lays her eggs in a high hollow branch. As they grow to the stage where they still haven't fledged, they get to be too cramped in the hollow. This is a problem for a bird that still can't fly. The problem is solved by a very scary first step. They fall, glide like stones, to the ground and almost never get hurt. Their parents bring them up where there is seed bearing grass and if threatened they escape to the water. Sometimes a successful pair will take on the offspring of other families. At Berrinba we have a pair that have 11 ducklings. Life is tough but so far they are doing well, after facing a lot of challenges.

05.01.2022 Australian Water Dragon are now common at Berrinba. Carnivores when very young but omnivores when mature and can live for 15-20 years. https://australianmuseum.net.au//an/reptiles/water-dragon/

04.01.2022 Berrinba through my eyes over the last few weeks

04.01.2022 Berrinba Wetlands has really sprung to life lately, Spring is in the air.... Also lots of little critters are getting frisky and many are competing for nesting sites. Sulphur Crested Cockatoos seem to be winning that race. Wood Ducks are in one hollow tree near the bird hide. Let's not forget the job that fungii do to break down vegetation.

04.01.2022 Berrinba over the last few days, early morning.

04.01.2022 A little rain and some warm days have greened the bush up beautifully. We have had a lovely group of walkers enjoying our daily exercise. You are all welcome to join us. We meet at the car park at both 0600 and then at 0700am. Every day is different but it is beautiful, that's for sure.

01.01.2022 White Bellied Sea Eagle is roosting in the Western end of the wetlands and can be seeing fishing regularly in the morning. White bellied Sea Eagles are the second biggest eagle in Australia just slightly lighter than Wedge Tailed. They have a huge wing span and have a diamond shaped tail.

01.01.2022 Australian Wood Ducks nest in hollow trees some times very high and this poses a challenge for the little duckling long before they can fly.

01.01.2022 Mystery pic... What is happening here? The winning Walker gets a jar of lilly-pilly jam that I have made from street grown Lilly-pillys.

01.01.2022 This morning I met a nice lady and she helped me ID two new species of bird, Australasian Grebe and Fan Tailed Cuckoo. That puts my bird count at 76. Come and see the wetlands some time.

01.01.2022 The wetlands are now fully open and the weather is great for walking or just enjoying nature. We have had a really good run with sick Pelicans, but I did have to rescue one this morning. He was a banded bird and we have passed on the band number to the research folk.

01.01.2022 Todays isolation walk at our local Berrinba Wetlands.
