24.01.2022 The days have been perfect and the evenings cool enough to light the fire in the pit.The cabana is a favourite spot to finish off the day with a glass or two of local wine .Watch the sun go down on another perfect day whilst enjoying the views of the mountains and if you are lucky one of our four resident cats might just keep you company.
23.01.2022 This last weekend saw me halting a Xmas in July weekend with ten of my nearest and dearest. Berry Beach Holiday Cottage performed perfectly. Friday night saw us in the garden cabana with pizza and a roaring fire in the fire pit. Sat night a traditional Xmas dinner prepared perfectly by Scott our son-in-law and chef for the night he was our only token male so I am sure he will have stories to tell of our antics. Sunday an early evening barbecue and the third late night in a row.I am now in recovery and enjoying the peace and tranquility of Berry Beach Holiday Cottage before a very busy weekend coming up as we are participating in the South Coast Wedding Trail open day both Sat and Sunday. For those of you wanting to view our property please feel free to pop by 10 till 4.

22.01.2022 Plenty of time to explore our neighbourhood. On my walk yesterday I climbed up through trees to check out what our property looked like from an unfamiliar angle down on the road .We do not have footpaths and are tucked behind the trees on a country road.It was strange I felt like I was trespassing and someone would catch me at any minute.Anyway I am lucky to have such a beautiful area to walk in and even more lucky to have this as my home a perfect place for social distancing.When the madness is over come and check out Berry Beach Holiday Cottage.Stay safe out there
22.01.2022 It’s almost spring and we have been worried about the lack of rain over the last two months.We are once again part of the Berry Garden Festival in Oct.Our garden needs water to look it’s best, so we were delighted with last nights downpour and was rewarded this morning with a wonderful display of spring flowers.
21.01.2022 This last weekend saw me hosting a Xmas in July get together for ten of my nearest and dearest lady friends. Berry Beach Holiday Cottage performed perfectly.Friday evening saw us around the roaring fire in the garden cabana enjoying delicious pizzas and dancing under the moon. Sat evening was a formal traditional Xmas dinner with all the trimmings complete with Xmas pudding. Our token male for the weekend was Scott our chef( who did a brilliant job and just happens to be my s...on-in-law) how lucky am I! Sunday was an early evening barbecue and yet another very late night. 20.01.2022 Sunday morning pancakes, served with lemon and sugar, on a pretty plate with an English country scene. This will have to be my pacifier for the time being. After a lifetime spent in Oz I still hanker for those reminders of my early years in England. Every now and then, out of nowhere, pops up a memory. 20.01.2022 Feeling incredibly sad for Italy as the death toll reaches nearly three thousand.Many are the parents and grandparents who are much loved and cherished taken before their time.This morning I have been looking at photos of our last trip to Italy and feeling so upset for this wonderful country. So this morning I reflect on how lucky we are no more complaining please .Be in gratitude and stay safe and thank our government for what they are doing to try to keep us safe.

17.01.2022 There has been a lot of publicity lately relating to the damage the extreme conditions here on the South Coast NSW have caused to the bees. So it was with trepidation and fear that we checked our hive this week and were delighted to see our bees were alive and producing. This batch is so delicious, with plenty more available. Samples of delicious food, courtesy of As you like it catering was on offer along with other vendors showcasing their wares for would be brides and grooms.Zanetta Mackie Weddings Did an amazing job of setting it up to give couples an idea of what their special day could look like.A big Thank You to all who participated to make this event so successful.
16.01.2022 Spring has sprung at Berry Beach Holiday Cottage we created a little corner in our garden which is left natural looking to resemble an English meadow I planted snowdrops ,bluebells, daffodils and freesias and daisies.Each year I look forward seeing them bloom and being reminded of my homeland and childhood which never fails to bring on a trip down memory lane.

12.01.2022 All the recent rain has done wonders for our rose garden which is part of the cottage garden.There is such a variety of colours along with the late lavender it all looks rather splendid. Guests this weekend enjoyed seeing ( and smelling) them displayed in an old silver teapot.

12.01.2022 Continuing with my social isolation each day a new discovery on our doorstep.Happy to be connecting with Mother Nature she is the perfect companion.Today on my walk she outdid my expectations and presented me with a rainbow, a group of kangaroos, about six lyrebirds and a waterfall in an ancient rain forest.I am very happy hanging out with nature.When this is all over come and check out Berry and surrounding areas it truly is spectacular.

11.01.2022 Once again it’s citrus time at BERRY BEACH HOLIDAY COTTAGE, I am having to be creative to use up as much of the fruit as I can. This year there is a bumper crop of oranges, mandarins, lemons, limes and grapefruit. Guests who visit us, at this time of the year, are welcome to pick and take home some of these super delicious fresh fruits.

10.01.2022 Bluebells at Berry Beach Holiday Cottage. I look forward to seeing these spring flowers each year, along with snowdrops, they transport me back to the UK and my childhood. I have tried to create an area designated for daffodils, freesias, bluebells and snowdrops. They are spreading varieties, which one day will recreate my mini English meadow. This year, we are once again this year part of the Berry Garden Festival, so for all you garden lovers don’t forget to wander around the grounds and check out my bluebells area.

09.01.2022 As everyone knows it’s been a horrific time here on the South Coast. I don’t think I will ever forget the day the fires came creeping towards our little township of Berry. Unlike many our town was spared but nevertheless for those of us that were preparing to leave the experience has left its mark. Two spot fires we put out in our street which shows just how close it was. The firefighters have saved so much property and so many lives, they are all hero’s, we cannot imagine ...what they have and are continuing to do, day in and day out, for it is far from over. Make no mistake Australia is burning right now, we have 150 fires burning, being fought by 2500 firefighters, 63 of those fires are out of control and there is no sign of it easing. The toll on our wildlife is unimaginable, we are broken. Our towns and businesses that rely so heavily on tourism need people to come and visit us. We have vacancies in both Berry Beach Holiday Cottage and Maison Noir, due to cancellations, I would like to assure people that we are still open for business. Berry, Gerringong, Gerroa and Kiama were not affected by fire, the restaurants and shops are open and as we sweep away the last of the soot and ash we look forward to welcoming you back to our beautiful South Coast. 06.01.2022 Just walked around our property it is trying to rain the temperature has dropped dramatically from yesterday which was the hottest day I have experienced in my lifetime.The garden is full of burnt trees and leaves the atmosphere is somber and people are numb.Yesterday was so frightening for all of us living in the fire ravaged areas today we are exhausted.However this is nothing compared to those people in refugee camps who lost everything including loved ones.The animals tha...t are gone are in the millions and it is too painful to contemplate.The firefighters who responded so quickly to our calls and kept us safe are the best example of courage, compassion and bravery I am in awe of them and can only Thank You all from the bottom of my heart you saved so much for so many. For those that think it’s over it is not the fire has just moved on to another area and many are experiencing the nightmare that was here yesterday.For them in the line of fire .I pray for your safety See more

04.01.2022 Berry NSW is well known as a popular weekend destination. The shops, restaurants and wineries are the major draw cards. Less known is the close proximity to Seven Mile National Park and it’s beach. Our area is also a haven for the more energetic folk, who like to get out and about. A popular hike is the Drawing Room Rock, a 2 km climb to the top of the escarpment, which boasts one of the best views of the area. Named for its rock formations which nature has carved into the shape of tables and chairs, it is well worth the climb. 04.01.2022 Everyone loves a good review. Here is what Clare, our guest from last week, kindly wrote. The gardens with the Cabana are beautiful. I really enjoyed my time there, wished for more. Feeding the fish in the dam then watching the sunset with a fire going was stunning. Thoughtfully decorated, the bathroom is a delight, both showers too. Our country courtyard is a favourite after enjoying a glass of wine in the garden cabana wandering past the olive grove complete with statues and urns it would be easy to think you were in Greece.However our stone cottage and gardens are only two hours south of Sydney on the coast with seven miles of uncrowded beaches just at the end of our road .
