25.01.2022 Berry has some beautiful traditions and one the most emotional and exciting ones has to be the ringing of the bell on the last day of school. This year Mr Sutton led the charge to retirement followed by 5/6S and 5/6Mc who are going into high school. Emotions always run high on this day every year but it is a beautiful tradition that the students, staff and parents all enjoy to wrap up the year!

A big congratulations to 2S and 3/4B for having the most amount of students registered and raising money! 16.01.2022 Every year, Year five students from our school study a country determined by the CWA ladies. They then complete an assignment on the country. This year they studied Ecuador, a country in South America. Students were given seven weeks to complete their assignment. Five weeks were spent drafting at both school and home and the last two weeks were used to create an amazing presentation each one unique. There was a large range of research topics from the Flag and Government... to Flora and Fauna. This is a long standing tradition that both the ladies and the students really enjoy. The assignments are delivered to the CWA hall in Berry, and then judged. Normally the students are spoiled with a scrumptious afternoon tea which is usually the highlight of the year. Sadly, this year, Year five were unable to attend due to COVID-19. They are hopeful that next year the Year 5 students will be a little luckier. 14.01.2022 Today was bittersweet for the staff (and community) of Berry Public School, while it marked the end of a chaotic year and the start of the Christmas break, it also marked the end of an outstanding career! Mr Sutton arrived at Berry Public School in 1997 from Quandialla and Caragabal, where he met his wife Sally, and began his time at Berry with a Year 3 class. He has taught all grades except kinder at Berry but has taught in Stage 3 for many years now. ... Mr Sutton has finished his career team teaching with Mrs MacAuliffe, which both have enjoyed and resulting in many benefits for their students. He has been a wonderful teacher, always dealing with everyone and everything in a calm and measured manner. His humour and wit have been standouts as his time at Berry, enjoyed by both students and teachers. He has embraced all aspects of life at Berry PS, from school camps, SRC, Tournament of Minds to gardening, laying turf and signwriting bus shelters. Everyone at Berry Public School are going to miss you Mr Sutton and we know you are going to have an AMAZING time in retirement!

08.01.2022 Dear Parents and Caregivers, It has come to our attention that the vast majority of stage 2 and stage 3 students have a range of social media accounts and hence are vulnerable to a range of negative issues. We are reaching out to parents in an appeal for support from our entire community to take steps to protect our children (in some cases protecting them from themselves) from the content they are posting and viewing online. We are the first generation of parents to experi...ence the challenges associated with social media and we must collectively rise to the challenge. For further information and advice we strongly advise all Parents to check the e-safety Commission website https://www.esafety.gov.au/ We also recommend parents of students in Years 5 & 6 watch the NETFLIX documentary, The Social Dilemma and consider watching it with your children to open discussions about the broader implications of social media on them, their relationships, and society. All social media platforms have regulations relating to children (see the matrix below) PLEASE CHECK THE SCHOOL APP AND SIGN THE FORM. Contact the school if you wish to discuss this matter or require additional advice or support. Thank you.
