23.01.2022 It’s that’s time of year again SANTA RUN This Sunday, 13th December See below the route we will be taking - make sure you listen out for the sirens ... If you miss us on your road no need to worry, we will be finishing the run at the Berry Springs Tavern where the kids can meet Santa and get a photo. We will also be selling raffle tickets for 3 meat trays to raise funds to complete the amenities within our sheds depot. Hope to see you all on Sunday

21.01.2022 NO BURNING WITHOUT A PERMIT While the easing of fire weather has come into play, it is becoming a good time to do any fuel reduction burns or clear green waste. Please remember that a PERMIT TO BURN is always required for any burning activities; fuel reduction burning, burn piles etc. It is an offence to light a fire unless authorised by a permit. Maximum Penalty 500 penalty units or 5 years imprisonment.... (1) A person commits an offence if: (a) the person intentionally lights a fire (other than a small fire) in the open air; and (b) the fire is: (i) within a fire protection zone; or (ii) within a fire danger area during a fire danger period; and (c) the person is not authorised by a permit to light the fire and is reckless in relation to that circumstance. Maximum penalty: 500 penalty units or imprisonment for 5 years. (2) Strict liability applies to subsection (1)(b). (3) For this section, a person is only authorised by a permit to do a thing if any conditions set out in the permit for the doing of that thing are complied with. Fires not to be left unattended (1) A person commits an offence if: (a) the person intentionally lights a fire in the open air; and (b) the fire is: (i) within a fire protection zone; or (ii) within a fire danger area during a fire danger period; and (c) the person intentionally leaves the fire without extinguishing it. Maximum penalty: 500 penalty units or imprisonment for 5 years. (2) Strict liability applies to subsection (1)(b). (3) It is a defence to a prosecution for an offence against subsection (1) if the defendant had, before leaving the fire, in circumstances in which it was reasonable to do so, arranged with another person who was maintaining or using the fire, to not leave the fire unless that person: (a) extinguishes the fire; or (b) makes the same arrangement with another person who is maintaining or using the fire

13.01.2022 HEAT WARNING Extreme heat conditions are forecast for much of the Northern Territory in coming days. NT Health encourages all residents and visitors to take appropriate precautions to avoid heat stress and dehydration. NT Health encourages you to: Wear lightweight, light-coloured, loose clothes and a wide-brimmed hat Avoid strenuous activities, especially outdoors... Drink at least three litres of water a day, even if you’re not thirsty Maintain a healthy salt intake Avoid alcohol and hot or sugary drinks, including tea and coffee Spend as much time as possible indoors in air-conditioning Be prepared. Stay cool and stay safe. Ensure you and your family have access to cool water and make sure you take care of your pets and animals as they can also be impacted by heat stress, Chief Health Officer Dr Hugh Heggie said. Last night we attended the NT Volunteer of the Year Awards hosted by Volunteering SA&NT A big congratulations to our members who received certificates of appreciation last night and to the entire brigade; we received a certificate of recognition for the Community Bendigo Bank Darwin Volunteer Organisation/Team of the Year. 08.01.2022 Do you use the NT Fire Incident Map? The NT Fire Incident Map is a great information tool that shows current incidents and the latest warning messages including fires incidents. We are excited to announce that Bushfires NT Planned Burn Advice will now be shown on the NT Fire Incident Map with its own purple icon. ... If we are conducting a burn on our programmed burn schedule, we will use the Planned Burn Advice to let you know when and where the operation is being conducted. Keep an eye out for it and let us know what you think.

07.01.2022 It is with the heaviest of heart and absolute devastation that we announce the passing of Edna O’Hehir, the most beautiful lady to have ever blessed our brigade and community. Edna was the brightest of lights and a huge asset to our brigade, who well and truly earn’t her life membership. She passed away surrounded by her family Saturday 17th October. ... We send our sincere condolences to the O’Hehir family during this time. If you have any photos of or with Edna we would love for you to post them below.
