24.01.2022 The paintings I am offering for sale have been with me since 1972 and were purchased directly from Berthe Hess and her husband Adolf when they were at their B.H. Corner Gallery, on Cathedral Place next to Paternoster Square and Saint Paul's Cathedral in the City of London. Her paintings are unique and breathtaking. No one has been able to replicate her technique and the secret how she applied the thick colours to the canvas is one she took with her to the grave when she pas...sed away in 1996. Her work can never be copied, imitated, or forged. Berthe Hess was a close family friend and I was privileged to have known her and her family. Her two most prominent paintings, Les Chevaux Demi-Sauvages de Camargue (1964).and Les Petits Rats de l’Opera (1966) are part of the collection I am selling.

12.01.2022 The great masters have had many copies and fakes made of their masterpieces. But, for those unfamiliar with the late Berthe Hess, no one has been able to copy or fake any of her works! Her style is so inimitable and unique that it would just be totally impossible to reproduce. An image will never convey the intricate and unbelievable detail of her work and her paintings need to be seen to be believed!
