21.01.2022 **Cricket Operations Update** Hi Bears, Firstly, we’re feeling for those of you who’ve recently had your footy season cancelled. Hopefully there’s no significant impact to any of your respective clubs and you’re all able to have a successful season in 2021. ... In regards to cricket; We’ve been working away in the background to try and get as much organised as we possibly can. Given everything that’s happening around us, it’s been challenging, however Spud, Cork and Crawf have been super in rolling with the punches and pressing on. At this moment in time, our indoor preseason is booked to start on September 7th, 6-8pm. Obviously there’s quite a bit of ‘Rona to go under the bridge between now and then, however please pencil it in. We’ll keep you all updated and keep working on contingencies in the background to make sure we’re ready to go as soon as we’re able. There will be changes to what we are used to as we meet the return to train and play guidelines set out by Cricket Victoria, however we’re sure you’ll all support these as it’s in everyone’s best interests to follow the protocol to ensure our season gets away as soon as possible. Spud and Cork are close to having the first few weeks of training all locked in and ready to go with some great structures in place to continue the fantastic work we’ve seen from Will over the past few seasons. We’ll have a coaching update out in the next week or so keep an eye out for that. You are all also no doubt aware of the changes to Sunday turf cricket. While there isn’t a terrible lot to report, I want to make sure you’re all aware the committee and operations group have investigated all viable options to ensure we’re able to maintain our current development trajectory. There are some great solutions in front of us however we just need to ride it out a little longer. As soon as we are all locked away, we’ll update you all. In the interim, if you have any concerns regarding these changes, please contact any of the cricket ops crew. We all have some time now to make sure we’re prepared for the season ahead either by going for a run or dusting off your copy of Ricky Ponting Cricket 2005 and unleashing A Gelchrast and D Mehrten on the substandard English attack of S Hermason and J Andorsson. Looking forward to finally seeing everyone again and embarking on what we hope will be another successful season for the Bears.

21.01.2022 Your 2019/20 DDCA Turf 1 Premiers!

21.01.2022 **Cricket Operations Update** Hi Bears, There’s nothing we would have loved more than to spend last night kicking off our pre-season with all of you legends and having some certainty around what another season will look like for the greatest club in the world.... The Operations Group and our Conditioning Advisors have been working on training plans for the upcoming season and given the recent changes (Plus the fact our pre-season would have ordinarily started last night), believe now is a great time to release the first one. Getting out and moving will be imperative over the next 6 weeks to ensure we’re all able to maintain some sanity! There’s only so many press conferences we can watch. Please head over to TeamApp and check out the Training Plans button where you can download our first 6 week program. https://berwickcricketclub.teamapp.com/newsletters?_list=v1 Short, sharp sessions, which can be completed within, or very near to your home as per the current COVID guidelines and will begin to build a base for the season ahead. For those of you already keeping active, these may be something a little different, for those who are on the fence, these should be a little bit of inspiration to get out and release some endorphins. Depending on restrictions and guidelines, we may release further plans in due course. Please ensure you adhere to all government mandated restrictions while exercising, be safe and look after your Mates. Current restrictions can be found here; https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/stage-4-restrictions-covid-19 Let’s not worry about when we’ll play, rather prepare as though we want to play as we’re fairly certain everyone is itching to get back into it. As always, Go Bears!

10.01.2022 VMCU DDCA Results ------------------------------- U14 Girls Julie Savage Shield... Jethri Perera 40 runs and a run out Jathri’s carnival continues as the girls kick into finals, trying to secure some silverware. Best of luck in the semi final! -------------------------- U14 Russell Allen Shield Jude Owen 61 runs, 2 wickets and 3 catches Jude shown here towering above highly regarded and much loved coach, Berwick supporter, Wookey Medalist and general pest, John Joffa Mark. Well done Jude and Joff, looks to have been a fruitful carnival for both of you. Thanks to Michael Owen for the image. ---------------------- U14 Des Nolan Cup Jake Oost 3 runs and 3 wickets Well done, Jake, didn’t get a lot of chances with the bat in hand, however bowled beautifully. Must’ve been a massive logistical effort by the Oost family with both Jake and Brodie suiting up for the DDCA in different age groups. --------------------------- U12 Keith Mitchell Shield Akshay Ramkumar 86 runs, 5 wickets and 2 catches Harry Mottau 35 runs, 5 wickets, 2 catches and a run out Kanvar Singh 110 runs and 1 catch A highly successful carnival by our young Bears under the expert tutelage of long term Keith Mitchell Coach, Rodney Keyarts.
