24.01.2022 Staggered start times tomorrow are the same as last week: 8:15am U12 - U16 8:25am U9 - U11 8:45am U6 - U8... Please aim to arrive 15 minutes before your start time. A list of events for each age group can be found in our Week 2 Facebook event. Thank you to those who have signed up for a duty. We still need some more volunteers to fill key roles including canteen helpers. We’ve broken the canteen duties into shorter timeframes and need 2 helpers from: - 9:15am - 10:30am Remember key duties count as 2 duties. If we do not have enough canteen helpers we cannot open the canteen. 17.01.2022 We would like to wish all our little athletes and their families a very Happy New Year. We hope that 2021 is better than 2020 and that our little athletes get plenty of opportunities to do the things they love....run, jump and throw.
15.01.2022 Our first program for the season kicks of tomorrow. It takes many volunteers to run a successful program. We still have some Key Roles that need to be filled, these include: 2 Canteen Helpers - 8:15am to 10:30am 2 Attendance Keepers - 7:45am to 9:00am. Having these roles filled prior to the day ensures our program starts on time and runs as efficiently as possible. ... Can you help with either of these roles or other remaining duties? 11.01.2022 Fundamental training begins tomorrow, Thursday 19th November from 5pm-6pm. This training is run by our volunteer coaches. It is aimed at U6-U8 and anyone new to athletics. For U9-U16 we have advanced training from 5pm-6pm. Tomorrow we have 2 options available, Hurdles or Horizontal Jumps. Uniforms will be available for purchase from 4:45pm-6pm.... The canteen will be open after training from 6pm-7pm for cold drinks and Zooper Doopers. At 6pm the 1500m races commence for U11-U16. There are currently 6 races scheduled. Race start times have been emailed out to those who registered. We still have 1 or 2 spaces available in the races (maximum 10 per race). If you would like to participate in these races but, didn't enter, please comment below. Due to the current restrictions we need to have a COVID Safety Officer and an Attendance Recorder at training sessions, both these count towards season duties. 07.01.2022 Training commences this week. For U6-U8 and any athletes new to athletics we offer fundamental training on Thursday from 5pm-6pm. This training is free and run by our volunteer coaches. For U9-U16 we offer advance training on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday from 5pm-6pm. This training is run by our experienced and talented athletes who were once members of Berwick Little Athletics. There is a small annual fee for advanced training ($40 per athlete or $70 for families). You can ...attend as few or as many sessions as you choose. For November, these sessions will be free so you can determine their value before you sign up. Athletes can select their preferred event they wish to train for on each evening from those available. From 1 December onwards you will need to have signed up to attend these sessions: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/129128267123 This week we have the following options for advance training: Tues 17th Nov - Shot Put (Caity) - Race Walking (Hayley) - Middle Distance Running (Rhys) - Sprints (Rhianna) - High Jump - Flop (Matt) Wed 18th Nov - Sprints (Josie) - Javelin (Kyle) - Middle Distance Running (Rhys) Thurs 19th Nov - Discus (Caity) - Hurdles (Rhianna) - Horizontal Jumps (Hayley W) Training sessions will be cancelled when the temperature is over 35C and is modified when the temperature is 30-35C to suit the conditions. Advanced training sessions in December and beyond will be updated on our website when available. 06.01.2022 Last Saturday saw our athletes compete in their final program for 2020. We also awarded our first Bronze Personal Best (PB) medals for the season. Usually the first bronze medals are awarded to a handful of athletes however, this year we had 50 athletes reach this milestone at the same time! Congratulations to the following athletes who received their medals on Saturday having achieved at least 7 PBs so far this season: Girls... U6: Willow K U7: Isla P, Millah K & Paige O U8: Harper P U9: Clare G, Cleo G, Eliza V & Portia M U10: Alysha O, Charli T, Marika E & Zoe M U14: Alayna C U15: Allanah T & Tia S. Boys U6: Archer B, Knox R, Liam T & Tahj A U7: Hudson G, Joel B, Nathan H, Ryder P & Tom G U8: Boston T, Brayden G, Eric M, Isaac L, Kobe H, Noah S & Zye A U9: Hunter F, Lincoln G, Lucas N & Romeo M U10: Finn F & Levi J U11: Aryan R, Jack H, Lachlan B & Rehan L U12: Denzel J, Dinath S & Max W U13: Hamish K, Isaac M, Jordan N, Joshua P & Xander H. Many more PBs were achieved on Saturday and a large number of Bronze medals will be handed out at our next program in the new year. We’ve also had 10 athletes equal (e) or break a centre record so far this season.
