25.01.2022 Arnie and Rufus saying ‘hello’, notice they are trying to get to one another’s ‘behinds’ as that’s where they learn the most information about one another. The body language looked relaxed so a quick 3 second nose touch was fine in this instance Dogs will naturally sniff one another behinds (if the other one is comfortable) to gather information from pheromones and anal glands. So remember this Nose to bum makes good chums it’s a completely normal and natural canine behaviour and should be encouraged during play (provided neither dog is dog reactive)

21.01.2022 Another good article from All Pets Education and Training regarding thunderstorms. We are coming into the warmer months here in Vic and for some parts that can see an increase in storms and therefore an increase in our scared pets. I know as a kid I used to be scared of thunder and lightning. Check out this article on ways to help our pets cope during these seemingly scary events

18.01.2022 It’s almost back to school time! Have you been home more, or spending more time with your dogs? Is this about to change?... If so, it’s time to start easing them back into the school routine. Ensure they can spend some time away from you. Use enrichment to help with this. A sudden change in your dogs routine may otherwise result in distress, vocalisation (barking/whining/howling), or destruction (biting/chewing doors, escaping fences etc). Or.... maybe your dog will be looking to catch up on some much needed

11.01.2022 Meet Nurse Morgan’s 11 year old Labrador, Penny For an 11 year old dog, this girl is an absolute superstar! Penny went blind back in 2016 and the health of her eyes unfortunately started to worsen in recent years. ... Penny developed luxated (dislocated) lenses & inflamed corneas (the transparent part of the eye), causing her pain and discomfort. She had a procedure known as a bilateral enucleation (surgical removal of her eyes) due to her blindness & pain, & is now a completely different dog. Penny is doing really well at home and has a new lease on life.
08.01.2022 Ollie, the gorgeous Greyhound sporting a trendy pair of booties, which are being used to help manage his footpad corns. Corns are a relatively common issue in Greyhounds and cause pain when bearing weight on the affected paw. We wish you all the best Ollie.

07.01.2022 Did you know?? I did not know this until just now! Zoomies, scientifically known as Frenetic Random Activity Periods are a sudden and unmistakable release of energy in dogs. It’s a normal and very common way to get rid of any pent up extra energy.... They can happen at any age, though are more common in puppies. They also regularly occur after baths/swim, during play, return from walks, and when owners arrive home and the excitement associated with this. As long as the area the dog has zoomies in is safe, they shouldn’t be a problem. However, if you are concerned, interrupt the zoomies and redirect to some calming mental exercises - use food toys, lick mats, scatter feeds and scent games.

05.01.2022 Thanks for the reminder TATE Animal Training Enterprises When it comes to socialising a dog (essentially the learning process a young puppy takes to learn about its world), it’s important to expose them to a variety of different sounds, surfaces, noises, people, animals, environments, smells and objects. By doing this in a rewarding way, hopefully we can minimise or prevent anxious behaviours occurring when the dog observes these things, such as things with wheels
04.01.2022 A reminder from All Pets Education and Training that Halloween is tomorrow & a few tips to keep our pets feel safe during this holiday
