13.01.2022 Happy International Womens Day! Violet, green and white were the code colours for "Give women votes" from the early 20th century. Meaning; green (give), white (women), violet (votes). Jewellery with these gemstone colours were produced and known as Suffragette jewellery which women wore with honor and pride until the year 1918, in which British women first obtained the right to vote. The ring pictured is not a Suffragette piece - in fact I don't believe I've ever come across an original piece from the Suffragette movement specifically made for members of the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU) - many pieces were made succeeding the Suffragette movement, or often had stones replaced to emulate this significant movement.

09.01.2022 Happy National #JewelDay ! I thought I'd bring this fine fellow out to shine today, one of my favorites in the shop. An Antique Victorian Locket Pendant This divine locket features a Pietra Dura panel to the front; Minute natural stone bits are masterly hand fitted together like a puzzle to form the white dove bird in flight, and a black marble background creates a wonderful contrast to the scene. Framing the Pietra Dura is a delicate Etruscan Revival-esque embellishment, combining granulation and wire work to form an ornate filigree design. Such intricate and masterly hand workmanship from the 19th century, circa 1870! Tap for more details!

07.01.2022 Do you like this antique conversion ring? Thanks to those who have already voted in my story This striking Edwardian conversion ring was collected from the jeweller yesterday. Previously a brooch, I felt it did not exhibit the rhodolite garnet to it's full potential, also the brooch was missing a little pearl collet to one side. The dazzling 1.20 carat raspberry-red rhodolite now pops on the finger, instead of getting lost on the collar! Coming soon.
