16.01.2022 SAVE THE DATE.....WORD AWARE COURSE! SATURDAY 7th MARCH 2020.......! Jeannie Reid is a Perth Speech Pathologist and a registered WORD AWARE trainer; she has extensive experience in delivering the WORD AWARE program to speech pathologists and teachers, so we are thrilled that she will share her knowledge and expertise with us on Saturday the 7th March. ... WORD AWARE is comprehensive and structured approach to promote vocabulary development in all children; it is an evidence-based program that provides a structured process to help support vocabulary enrichment in all students and particularly for students with special educational needs and children with English as a second language. It can be implemented at Tier 1, 2 and 3 or alternatively as a whole-school approach. Children need twelve meaningful encounters of a word before they really know it. WORD AWARE promotes a method called STAR, which stands for Select, Teach, Activate and Review. This process ensures the children encounter the new words many times and many different ways. Developing a strong vocabulary is essential if children are to become successful literacy learners. We will release the Try-booking link, venue and costings next week. Cheers and Happy New Year Jenny & Jaimi-Lee

This is a fabulous evidence-based intervention for written expression - run by an outstanding Speech Pathologist - Emily Jackson. This workshop is suitable for Speech Pathologists who work on written expression with school age students in small groups or on an individual basis. Talk for Writing (T4W), is an evidence-based program designed to teach children how to write narrative and expository texts; it was developed by Pie Corbett, a British educational researcher, whose adage is, "If you can't say it, you can't write it!".
