21.01.2022 Last week we were facing the prospect of an empty holiday park and a dismal summer season, due to the East Gippsland bushfires. In desperation, we reached out on Facebook hoping to connect with dog-owners ready to come and support Gippsland. Kirsten and Jason responded immediately and literally arrived at our empty park within hours! We welcomed their two beautiful doggos: Cleo & Murphy and are pleased to say the park has had a steady flow of guests for the past few days. 19.01.2022 We are a dog-friendly caravan park in South Gippsland, set on 10 acres of parkland just 3km from the temperate rainforest of Tarra Bulga National Park. Although we are grateful to be located a very safe 150km from the current bushfires burning in East Gippsland, the effects for our business have been devastating. Today our holiday park is completely empty The summer holidays are typically our busiest time and the park should be bustling with activity. Instead we have eerily ...vacant cabins, an absence of caravans, not a single tent, no guests and not one visiting doggo Our situation is not unique; businesses like ours that are far removed from the direct fire threat have seen unprecedented booking cancellations and loss of visitation. Hire Our Camper are based in the Mornington Peninsula and can hook you up! Theyre even pet friendly! They have also kindly offered to match our 35% discount on their hire fees if you let them know youll be staying at Best Friend Holiday Retreat during January and February!

The cabin is in excellent condition with 2 bedrooms, bathroom with shower, toilet and vanity, full size gas oven and cook top, good sized fridge with freezer, microwave and large raised deck with storage underneath. Fully furnished with 2.5 seater couch, almost new double fully sprung mattress in main bedroom and double bed plus single bunk above in the second bedroom, extendable table with 4 chairs, satellite tv, DVD player, crockery, cutlery etc, BBQ, chimenea and small garden shed. Bird feeder adjoins the large deck where you can enjoy the plentiful beautiful rosellas and king parrots who visit throughout the year. Park fees are $4,120.00 per annum. $50,000.00 ono. 04.01.2022 To our wonderful guests and supporters, we are saddened to inform you that we have made the difficult decision to close Best Friend Holiday Retreat for the foreseeable future, following the Premiers announcement on 23rd March 2020. Due to the extraordinary circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic we are providing all guests with 100% credit for any existing booking, outside our usual cancellation policy, to be used within the next 18 months. If you have an existing booking, pl...ease be patient as we process all the cancellations and credits. We will be contacting each of you over the next few days. This year has certainly been extremely challenging for our park and tourism in Gippsland more broadly. 04.01.2022 A late afternoon spent patiently waiting for the wombat who lives under our en-suite to emerge so I could apply his mange treatment. Efforts were rewarded but Mr Wombat was not thrilled with my level of patient care and promptly returned to his burrow!
