25.01.2022 Volunteer crafty sewing persons needed in Wagga. Pillow Talk Australia has SO kindly donated a dozen large mattress protectors to us (big thanks to Pillow Talk ). We need a volunteer with sewing skills to cut and hem/overlock the protectors into approx 50cm squares so that we can use them in the bottoms of puppy & kitten travel crates. They will be much more absorbent than newspapers and reusable too! If you can help sew, please PM us with your phone number. Maybe a few people would organise a sewing bee?

24.01.2022 Thanks for all the adoption interest, folks! We know some people will miss out - Lulu already has a dozen applications for our adoptions coordinators to review. We WILL HAVE some more pups available in a few weeks. We currently have 2 puppies being medicated for tinea (aka ringworm) and a young adult dog recovering from severe malnutrition and full-body mange plus secondary skin infection (*Gus will get his own post in a few days). We have a 3rd puppy who is so frightened of people that she has taken two weeks to even initiate eye contact with her carer, so she still needs quite a bit of DS/CC therapy before she’s ready for adoption. For those who miss out, or are waiting for kittens, please be patient as October to February is the busiest time of year for rescuing

22.01.2022 If you are a resident of South Australia, please submit your objection to these applications for puppy farms immediately. Dogs are companion animals, not production units to be factory farmed! Submission period ends Wednesday 11/11.

22.01.2022 If you go to the coast, apply tick preventives to your pets before you go. Also, beware of transporting ticks home with you. A few years ago, one of our foster kittens was paralysed from a tick that had been brought home to Canberra in the family’s camping equipment.

18.01.2022 We promised Gus his own post. Gus is around 12 months old, and was rescued in August with malnutrition and severe mange (caused by skin mites). The kind person who rescued him started him on vet treatment and then got him to us for ongoing care and eventual rehoming. You can see in the first photos on 3 Aug that he had lost all his hair and his skin was infected and bleeding. After a month of treatment and good nutrition, his hair started regrowing and he didn’t look quite so sad (second set of photos). From last week, his hair is nearly all back and he has gained a lot of weight. Gus just wants to be loved and cared for, and he will be ready for adoption soon!

16.01.2022 Introducing Lulu! She’s a medium-sized crossbreed puppy approx 3.5-4 months old. Her parentage is a mystery. She’s a bit shy and a lot cuddly, she just adores being snuggled. Located in a foster home in Wagga Wagga NSW. Apply to adopt at www.bfpr.org.au, she’s been microchipped, desexed and recently had her 12-week vacc.

14.01.2022 *PUMPKIN HAS ADOPTION* Pumpkin is an extremely affectionate, friendly little boy! He is approx 13 weeks old. Absolutely loves attention and following you everywhere you go. He is extremely playful and will appreciate lots of toys to play with. He loves all people, warms up to cats and dogs after a while and loves to be the boss. Don’t bother with a bed as beside your head on your pillow is his favourite place to sleep. Also forget personal space, especially in the shower he... will sit and wait for you to finish while trying his absolute best to join you. He is still finding his voice and most of the time just looks like he’s smiling at you while trying to meow. Would suit any household really as long as he gets plenty of love and attention, he’s super confident and an all round happy little boy. Pumpkin is located in Wagga. He is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated. See more

06.01.2022 Evening Canberra likers! We have a little request we're hoping you can help with. We've recently taken in 7 very cute puppies. They're 5 weeks old and looove their food (you can imagine how much they're eating!) If anyone could donate Optimum canned puppy food, Divetelact formula or puppy pads it would be greatly appreciated, you can only imagine how much 7 puppies go through! Because the puppies have been started on Optimum it's best for their tummies to be kept on it. ... Best Friends Pet Centre Tuggeranong has kindly offered to be a drop-off point, and they also sell these items! The puppies haven't mastered eating dry food yet but are getting braver and more cheeky day by day! Thank you so much, your assistance is greatly appreciated!!! We have them with a foster carer who has them in an incubator and are on prescription meds. 05.01.2022 Meet Nala the Siberian Husky. She’s almost 4 years old and requires a home with secure fences and gates as she will exploit any weak spots in her attempts to meet all of the neighbours! She is very active and talkative, has a high-maintenance coat, and does get along with most other dogs. Be advised that we will give preference to applicants having experience with arctic breeds. 03.01.2022 *I HAVE ADOPTION* Hi, I'm Jake. I am a cute small Jack Russell Terrier x Chihuahua I weigh 4kg. My favourite things to do is to lay on a lap, play with toys and playing chasing with my other dog friends. I would benefit from a home with another playful small/medium size dog. I don’t have the usual full on JRT energy I am much more low key. I do need a slow introduction to new dogs. I am a lap dog and I am happiest with my humans. I am happy to sleep in my crate especially at night. I am nearly house trained. But this will have to be reinforced in my new home. I am located in Wagga Wagga.

We will keep posting them here, so even though they don’t have a profile at www.bfpr.org.au, you may still go there to submit an adoption application. Seymour is an 9 year old terrier x pug. He has a coat that requires a good professional groom every 8 weeks or so. He has had extensive dental work since coming into care, so he is feeling much better now and is gradually losing his extra weight. He is an ideal dog to take for outings as he loves going for a ride in the car. Seymour is an inside dog - he uses a doggy door. He likes to burrow into blankets and would love to sleep on your bed. He is truly a sweet dog that deserves a great home for the rest of his life. Located in Wagga Wagga.
