25.01.2022 Hi all. Just a cut and paste from a Sport SA email about current newly eased restrictions. Following this mornings Transition Committee meeting, the Premier announced further easing of COVID-19 restrictions that may impact the sport and recreation sector. As of Wednesday 17 June 2020 - ... There is no restriction placed on persons returning to or entering South Australia from Western Australia, Northern Territory or Tasmania, provided this is direct travel from those states. Travel from Queensland is still being considered. As of Friday 19 June 2020 - Indoor fitness / dance / activity classes are permitted to have up to 20 participants in a room, provided 1 person per 7 square meters can be accommodated. Some updated information for you regarding Step 2.5 - SAPOL have confirmed that outdoor sports are not required to keep contact tracing records. We have also just had confirmation that previously submitted Covid-Safe plans are automatically being updated to reflect Step 2.5 and the new numbers permitted in spaces. Eg: if you have already submitted a Covid-Safe Plan you do not need to resubmit this, it is being updated automatically for you and will be emailed to you (later today or tomorrow). However, if you had previously omitted areas that you may now wish to be considered to be activated with the increased limits, you will need to submit a new plan. Eg: an indoor space or additional ovals/courts that weren't specified in your first plan. The sa.gov.au website is being updated this afternoon to reflect this. Depending on specifics in the Step 3 directions, the Step 3 plans may also be updated automatically for you.

25.01.2022 This is an important story in the sporting world. Acceptance of differences within our teams and true love and care for each other. I really try to say partner rather than boyfriend / girlfriend in my dealings with athletes. Create an atmosphere of care and your team winning because you embrace differences in its make up. Thanks Jasmine Kimlin for the article.

25.01.2022 Daily update from Dr Geoff Verrall with numbers that give feedback to help us stay away from those we love spending time with.. Go people we are all helping. Thanks Geoff his son Connor , maths and science.

25.01.2022 If you are watching the SAS show on TV please look up Stanley Milgrams experiment on authority. I am not weak but I would not last 2 days. Yep there are times when you have to suck it up and be tough. Grew up physically fighting my brothers but as an adult wouldn't punch someone else just to prove I can. Hate punishing others as discipline, hate doing punishment activities for no reason. Learning about conformity demonstrates most people will fall in line and not complain w...hen they think it is necessary for the group even if they they are morally opposed to it. The leaders giving instructions can be Champions or Psychopaths. Great TV but don't try this at home. Psychs are not permitted to do Milgrams experiment anymore as the participants could not mentally cope with the fact that they actually would have really harmed real subjects. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DxSKTSoA_E See more

25.01.2022 Just a little summary of some of the current trials for treating COVID. Might have to bone up on my cytogenetics. https://twitter.com/e_sa/status/1266665403473973248/photo/1

24.01.2022 Workdrinks (just 2 of us of course), Work (did not pay attention to numbers) and Graphs = scramble Take 2 - like this lot . A power graph we want next a log graph. I feel happier seeing this. Thanks Peter Bishop Andrew Beck Kane Cornes

24.01.2022 Hi everyone, Here is a letter I have been sending to some of the teams that I have been involved with. If you have my book there are so many activities to practise and you tube clips to help anyone improve and even cope with this situation. Good psychology works on and off the field and of course CARE is the base. Feel free to copy the letter and maybe set up your own get together session. Watching a film and then discussing it gives people some things to talk about. Hi eve...Continue reading

23.01.2022 Todays graphs from Geoff. We are all trying to keep the actual way below the predicted. Stay safe. Todays sport movie is "Field of Dreams" If you build it they will come"

23.01.2022 Love a coach that makes it fun.

22.01.2022 Hi, Ive been avoiding adding to the knowledge burden with so many people telling everyone else what to do. But... since its changing so quickly I'll pass on what might be of practical help, especially here in SA. The link is to the WHO advice on mask use. Basically don't wear one if you're well. It takes 5 pages to tell you this. Leave the scarce supply for the hospitals. Please. Stay safe. https://apps.who.int//WHO-2019-nCov-IPC_Masks-2020.3-eng.p

22.01.2022 Im at Wakefield Sports Clinic tomorrow (82325833) from 11 if anyone needs medical help tomorrow. Have a good weekend everyone. Also in case people missed it, heres the timeline for sport in the coming months as passed on by SportSA

21.01.2022 Hi, Doctor Mark here. Heres a good page for mental health resources from the Black Dog Institute. Over the next few days I'll also post links to a few guided meditation chill outs - from a quick "stuffs getting real - Be Quiet Crazy Mind" to a slightly longer "it will get better" session. And.. it will get better. Sometimes the brain needs a bit of reminding. Take care https://blackdoginstitute.org.au/coronavirus-anxiety-resour

21.01.2022 Many think winning a scholarship to a US College is the pinnacle of success. It can also be a nightmare and the start of psychological issues for others. Any of our athletes who make their way to the States should be aware of the differing cultures and the lack of support in some programs. They all need a support system. Good share Catherine Conaghty.

20.01.2022 Find out what you can and cant do with the COVID restriction checker https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/covid19-restriction-checker

20.01.2022 This is a great insight into how people not a club words on the wall develops culture & success.

20.01.2022 Geoffs daily summary.. Today not so good. Keep your distance and stay home if you can.

19.01.2022 Great set of graphs explained by Geoff Verrall in the paragraph below.

18.01.2022 If you want to watch Champions in a different arena check out the Netflix doco Speed Cubers. Loved watching and seeing the competitive friendship between Felix and Max and many of us will appreciate what they do in 6 seconds we have yet to accomplish. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wrTIWx_Z6k

17.01.2022 Hi everyone, Hope you are well. SBS movies has Chariots of Fire as one of its movies this week It is almost 40 years old but still contains so many messages for the young and the old. If you have never seen this movie and have a few hours to spend, please watch it. Look at the importance of friendship, drive, ethics and the chance of sport in helping overcome discrimination and hardship. I first watched this movie 39 years ago and love it even more now. Why because I am one ...of those people who found the best group of friends and just wanted to be the best at what we did. We are now older but know just what we accomplished. If you believe that is what you want in your life then get to work. It is about the body and the mind being driven and caring for our mates. Not sure I ever smiled this much running long runs though. Show your kids. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fi6JXOZT55E See more

17.01.2022 Some wisdom from an amazing brother..

15.01.2022 If you have a cough or cold but dont fit the criteria for hospital testing ie contact with someone who has it AND fever or cough as per SA Dept of Health guidelines you can go to the first Respiratory clinic opening in Adelaide. "Adelaide Central Respiratory Clinic, located at 257 Fullarton Road, Parkside. Bookings can be made via a dedicated mobile, 0401 142 608, and also online soon" if you think you fit the criteria then present to a government testing facility. https://www.sahealth.sa.gov.au//covid-19+clinics+and+testi

15.01.2022 Our daily SA feedback thanks to Geoff Verrall. Keep safe, be kind to others.

13.01.2022 Todays brilliant movie.

12.01.2022 SA Pathology has opened up collection centres for immunocompromised and vulnerable patients eg pregnant frail or having cancer treatment. This is to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID for those at-risk patients. The centres are located at the Metro Shopping Centre, 254 Unley Road, Hyde Park and the Elizabeth GP Plus, 16 Playford Blvd, Elizabeth. This is an appointment-only service, patients can call 8222 3000 to book.

12.01.2022 Lots of us have been invested into this whole notion of flattening / hammering etc the curve. I have to rely on data from others (as it is not my expertise) but I loved the show Numbers as it showed how important they are at this time. Geoff is giving us feedback. It is great feedback as it shows we are helping. We may be in the first quarter so lets keep going and win this bloody event.. Thanks Geoff Verrall people will help when they know why.

11.01.2022 I challenge the other States to flatten the curve fastest. Let's see who can do well in a ne form of State of Origin.

11.01.2022 Something to practice at home. Videos free

10.01.2022 This is a follow up to the article written the other day. If you have a chance please read and know how difficult it is for those in a team even the leaders to make a stand. Then look up the conditions of group think & obedience to authority. Can you make any connections to some sports stories in Australia, elite or local teams? If you are doing a Year 12 sport psychology research project this is a must.

10.01.2022 For all the coaches out there.

10.01.2022 Today's brilliant movie.

10.01.2022 Thanks to Ben Hook for letting me have a chat.

08.01.2022 If you cant attend your usual GP, Priority Care centres are being opened up. These are for people with accidents or urgent medical needs that can't see their usual GP and who don't need the ER. See attached info sheet.

08.01.2022 Geoff Verrall has been doing a great job keeping us up to date. Keep safe, be kind and if you are interested in a group wellness chat please let us know as we will run a zoom session.

08.01.2022 Hi all. Hope everyone has had a good day. Heres a guided meditation on gratefulness and gratitude. On the surface, a bit weird with all that's going on but this practice is a good antidote to that closed in feeling that can come upon us. https://youtu.be/zRcY0H8VYUI

04.01.2022 Hi all. To put my small bit of help in the expanding pool of goodness that everyone is sharing, just made a 12 minute guided relaxation video. This is what I'v...e been using with patients over the last 15 years or so of doing hypnosis. Please excuse the production quality but I figure your eyes will be closed most of the time anyway. Better to leap in and do something I figure. Hope you enjoy. See more

03.01.2022 Updated info and an interesting discussion from Geoff Verrall. We are yet to be in winter but hopefully it will be a considered debate with expert critical thinkers to see where we go from now. Social psychologists will be important when looking at human behaviour over periods of time and conformity.

03.01.2022 Hope everyone is doing well. This is the one-stop site for COVID info from SA. Stay well! - Dr Mark. Also if anyone would like looking to do a drive-by style flu clinic from my home if people would be interested. I'm sorting out the details but would be for example $20 cash ( no EFTPOS here sorry) to pay for the vaccine and I'll take a photo of your medicare card for medicare purposes. Bye for now. https://www.sa.gov.au/covid-19

03.01.2022 Please share this if you have any kids or young adults at home wanting to work on their skills or anyone who is into coaching. Stay well, stay safe and if you can please stay home.
