22.01.2022 Fun fitness class at the Victorian Fitness Acadamy. This sort of training promotes teamwork, decision making, problem solving and concentration - as well as fitness!

22.01.2022 So what does firewood have to do with fitness? Incidental Exercise thats what- I was breathing quite heavily when I finished. What do we mean by incidental exercise? Its any physical activity that you do in your daily life that that is not scheduled. Incidental exercise can be a very important part of your overall fitness and health goals, allowing you do more physical activity in your day, almost without realising you are doing it. Some other types of incidental exercise inc...lude: -Taking the stairs rather than the lift -Parking as far as possible from your destination and walking -Carrying children (or the shopping) -Chopping wood -Using an activity tracker to get 10 000 steps in a day. -Certain jobs (working in a cafe, most trades) Can anyone think of anything they do in their lives at the moment that would count as incidental exercise? 20.01.2022 This a video of a recent bench press set that I sent to my strenght coach for technique analysis. I have been weight training now for around 25 years, have a human movement degree and am just finishing my Personal Training qualifications, so why would I need a coach. Well, no matter how experienced you are, there is always something you can learn -technique, programming, new exercises, motivation, accountability -the list is endless. (and if you watch the video, youll definately see why I need a coach).

20.01.2022 It was a dirty day on the mountain bike today....

18.01.2022 You know your.strength gains are comimg along nicely when you snap a $100 knife cutting your daughters sandwich.

17.01.2022 Great day and great location for coaching some kids for their regional cross country event. Pity the schools PE teacher forgot to advise me that it was cancelled today.

13.01.2022 Activity for the day - run, swim, surf or ride?

11.01.2022 Its wet outside. That doesnt mean your program stops. Get inside a gym and throw some weights around or get on the treadmill, swim a few laps ar do some bodyweight exercises in front of the television.

10.01.2022 Does anybody use any of these? The benefits of massage have long been known - reduction in muscle tension, improved circulation, improved recovery from soft tissue injury, improved mobility and flexibility to name a few. However, getting a massage every week or two can be expensive and time consuming. There are now a bunch of tools around that enable you to self treat every day. These are just some of the self massage implements i use to kèep me on the bike or in the gym. Ill be posting more information and reviews of these implements and techniques in the coming months.

10.01.2022 Very true. Don't suffer the second pain.

10.01.2022 Twas a tad cold on the ride this morning, but warmed up once I got going. I shortened the ride this morning due to a sore knee but feel better for getting out

10.01.2022 Great ride around the You Yangs with some great mates yesterday. Although I am focussing more on the gym at the moment, it is still important to mix things up and give the body a different stimulus. Even though we took things fairly easy, we were all exhausted after nearly 3 hours of riding.

09.01.2022 A little bit of action from this mornings session. Whilst I wont be setting any powerlifting records anytime soon, I have been lifting more in the past few months than I have since my university days 25 years ago. My back and knees are also as strong as they have bewn in a long time, thanks to a very slow progression, proper technique and good coaching (thanks David Tran-Cong)

08.01.2022 Welcome to my page 'Fit at 40' Here you will find information about the program, fitness and nutrition tips, and stories about inspirational people who are truly living the adage 'fit at 40'

05.01.2022 Nice morning for a ride. You can still get outside and exercise on winters days - just make sure you are rugged up against the elements.

03.01.2022 Just going for a walk ( with 100kg)

02.01.2022 Core strength carries over to almost all aspects of movement. If you have a strong core you can help risist injury and move better

02.01.2022 New squat PB this morning.

01.01.2022 This is one of the United States top marathon runners, Jordan Hasay. In this video she debunks 3 myths... 1. That distance runners shouldnt lift 2. That girls shouldnt lift 3. That girls shouldnt lift heavy or they will bulk up.

01.01.2022 Cardio or Weights? The short answer would be both, but the real answer would be depending on the goals with your fitness. As a competitive runner many years ago, I almost solely ran (with some stretching) as I believed that to get better at running, you needed to, well, run. However, looking back at my athletics career, I wish I had done more resistance training, for strength gains, improved performance and most importantly, injury prevention. Contrary to what many people th...ink, weights do not make you bulky (unless you are training like a bodybuilder) and I would have had added strenth whilst remaining a lean runner As a beginner to exercise or someone who is returning to exercise after a long break the best way to begin is just to get moving- whether it be a walk around the block or a bike ride with your kids. this type of exercise is an enjoyable activity to get you moving. Further down the track it would be prudent to add some resistance training to increase the strengh of your bones, muscles and joints, and increase muscle mass. A more experienced exerciser may with to add some more advanced and higher intensity cardiovascular training into their program such has HIIT (or High Intensity Interval Training) See more
