25.01.2022 Many people invest in their car sound systems, sometimes buying elite series speakers that cost over $600 or even higher. Preparing the correct enclosure for those speakers is a step that most of the owners and/or installers skip. If they don't skip, most likely a single layer of a thin vibration dampener may be used, which is half of the job. Speakers puch a lot of air in both directions - inside (music that you hear) and outside (sound that is trapped in the door). Sound...wave will hit and reflect from that vibration dampener and will travel back to the speaker affecting the cone causing all sort of distortions (on your side of the speaker cone) There's another layer that absorbs the noise inside the door. It has to go on top of vibration dampener. When speaker is not affected from the inside the door - this is when you can extract more from any speakers, even from those that came in your car from the factory... not to mention $600 speakers. As a result: sound systems delivers quality sound and doors don't rattle when you increase the volume ;)

07.01.2022 few important steps in soundproofing doors. 1- clean the surface from oil, dust etc. Dry the surface 2- measure, cut, apply the vibration dampener first (STP Aero). stick it starting from one side while holding the other side. Then press-slide it to the surface with your hand, again from one side to another. By doing this you're removing air that can be otherwise trapped in between. There's no need to overlap pieces of material. 3- roll it down with the roller or press it wit...h another appropriate (flat) tool until the pattern that you see on the material disappears. 4- check for any air bubbles that you still may have trapped in between the surface and the vibration dampener. Pierce it gently with the knife and roll down again. (I had 2 bubbles in this door, they always there, so please check) 5- apply sound absorption material (STP Accent 6 or 10mm) in the same fashion (from one side to another, trying not to leave any air trapped in between 2 materials). press it firmly with your hand - that is more than enough. 6-treat the outside skin where possible (where the plastic curtain was). Do not cover wires or technical holes - you will make your work harder and will affect possible work in the future on that door like glass, handle or even speaker replacement. Please bear that in mind. 7 - treat the door trim with Biplast 10mm. (not applicable in this video) 8 - check that door still operates the way it was operating before soundproofing (window is going up and down, central locking and so on) See more
