01.01.2022 Illustrator Kirrili Lonergan shows how you too can draw the character Loppy from the book, Lessons of a LAC. It is often very difficult to break through to children and connect with them about their worries. This is why Loppy LAC was born. The main character in psychologist Lynn Jenkins and illustrator Kirrili Lonergan’s book, Lessons of a LAC, Loppy represents the inner anxious ‘chatter’ and the worry feelings of children who become anxious. After reading Lessons of a LAC, c...hildren can watch this video and talk about Loppy’s features and how they reflect the feelings of worry, alarm, danger and fear. His characteristics are exaggerated since he thrives on looking out for danger and talking about it, he has very large eyes and lips. According to Illustrator Kirrili Lonergan, My approach to illustrating Lessons of a LAC was that Loppy was always going to be a creature. It is of significance that he wasn’t an animal or human, but rather, a creature representing emotions. I drew Loppy, as the embodiment of anxiety feelings, with heavy dark lines and red in colour. He is energetic and powerful. https://www.facebook.com/LessonsofaLAC Purchase Lessons of a LAC: http://www.roomtoconnect.com.au/lessons-lac/ Resources for teachers: http://www.lessonsofalac.com
