17.01.2022 Our initial RECAL leaders meeting preparing for the arrival of our first group of residents as "Betel-Shalom". This is the start of a new beginning! Our Bible reading this morning just happened to be from Nehemiah 2:18 "Let us start rebuilding!" How very appropriate! (NB The word recal is short for recalibration. Every week we need to make sure that we are all still on the same page and hence usually need to be recalibrated to ensure that it is so because it is so easy for misunderstandings and miscommunications to come in and cause disunity.)

15.01.2022 A great effort by our men this week at the Montague Orchard, Narre Warren North, spreading 120m3 of mulching in the vast garden beds around their property. This had to be moved by wheelbarrow and spread by hand around the new saplings, all in time for their grand opening next week. Fantastic effort, fellas! And we love the smiles! Restoring the lives of our men and their families - that’s what we do best!

13.01.2022 The Cambridge dictionary definition of Recalibration is: change the way you do or think about something. We have a weekly Recalibration - called Recal - once a week on a Monday, for both the residents and the staff. This is exactly what we do, we recalibrate by ensuring were all on the same page, moving forward on our journey, tweaking things here and there. We all grow and change for the better at differing rates, and our weekly Recals are invaluable in this journey. This week we here in Victoria were fortunate enough to join Shalom House Perth WA in their Recal - pure gold! Its like a well needed top up of the fuel tank. After all, we are all in this wonderful business of restoring broken lives.

12.01.2022 The current Covid-19 strict Stage 4 restrictions in Victoria means our fellas arent allowed to go out together in a group for their weekend outing, so we have to take them one by one for their daily exercise. Heres Dylan enjoying the beautiful wide open spaces. Thank you Adam for the great pics.

12.01.2022 Testament to the changed lives of our Betel-Shalom fellas. They are changing their lives, working hard and delivering fine, fine work! The men did a complete make over of Murrays front garden - and Murray was well pleased. See a few of the before & after photos: "Recently I needed a front garden make over. I wasnt sure who could do the job. While driving I saw the Betel Gardening vehicle. I had heard of them and the work they do so gave them a call. Betel came out prompt...ly, looked over the job and sent a quote that I accepted. A date was booked and they turned up as organised. Four days later the job was done. The Betel team was very good. They communicated well, arrived on time, the price was competitive and flexible for extras. The guys were cheerful and hardworking, doing a variety of work. Including gardening, weeding, rotary hoeing, moving shrubs, carpentry work, making paths, paving and masonry work. Thanks Betel-Shalom for making a big job go so well. Cheers Murray" See more

07.01.2022 We are so proud of how immaculately clean and tidy our fellas keep their residence here at Betel-Shalom, Victoria. This is all testament to just how much their lives have changed, taking responsibility for themselves and their surroundings. Great work!

06.01.2022 So, we farewelled our Betel-Shalom Program Manager Adam Burns today, who flies back to Shalom House Perth tomorrow to fill his role as head honcho for the 140 man strong program there. Adam, we will miss your leadership and the laughs, but we know you’re heading to right where God wants you. Thank you for sharing your testimony and bringing your beautiful fiancé to visit.
