23.01.2022 Coronavirus! There has been a lot of publicity about this in the last view weeks. There are also a lot of speculation as of where this virus comes from. As a naturopath I’m concentrating on how to keep people strong and healthy so in case they are exposed to the virus their bodies will be able to fight it. All the cases of dear from this virus have been people with a compromised immune system or some other form of pre existing disease. So sorry hat can we do to protect oursel...ves and our loved once from this? Here are a view tips to keep your immune system strong and healthy: - reduce stress - regular exercising is also very beneficial for the immune system - drink clean water; 1.5 to 2 litres - make sure to get adequate sleep - consume a whole food diet with little to no unrefined foods and get adequate sunshine We don’t have to be a victim of this. So I encourage you to take these steps and stay healthy.

22.01.2022 Following up to yesterday, progesterone is very calming. Let’s look at estrogen, it has an excitatory effect on the brain and increases serotonin, dopamine and glutamate which is our main excitatory neurotransmitter. So high estrogen may cause irritability due to low progesterone, or better said as an imbalanced ratio.

21.01.2022 Wishing you all a happy Mother’s Day May your day be filled with knowing that you are loved.

21.01.2022 Is your liver at risk? Your liver is a very hard working organ. It neutralises and eliminates toxins and waste product that would otherwise accumulate in the blood. It produces bile acids for fat metabolism, it stores essential vitamins, minerals and breaks down alcohol, medications and environmental toxins. It acts like a factory; making essential proteins to keep the body at optimum working capacity. Processed and refined foods, trans fats such as fried foods, chronic low g...rade infections, heavy metals can tax the liver and cause non alcoholic fatty liver. You may not feel much, just being a bit sluggish and tired at times. The use of prescription and over the counter medications can contribute to fatty liver also. We are at the very beginning of a new year. Why not give your liver a cleanse. I run specific detox regimes for specific conditions depending where the detox’s is needed. If you’re ready for a cleanse feel free to contact me. See more

18.01.2022 Your gallbladder, more then storing bile. The gallbladder is a little pouch just situated under the liver is a storage organ for bile. Bile acids are actually made by the liver

18.01.2022 The gallbladder and your health. Your liver actually makes bile acids and the gallbladder stores it. Bile should consist of roughly 70% bile salts, 20% phospholipids, 7% cholesterol and 3% of bilirubin to function at optimal levels. Electrolytes and amino acids such as glycine and taurine are required. If not present, bile salts are inactive. This in turn will affect your whole digestive system. Bile salts are released into the small intestine during digestion in order to neutralise acids and break down fats. Low bile acids also may increase the survival of a bacterium called Clostridium difficult, which may cause diarrhoea.

16.01.2022 Did you know that 90% of serotonin and 50 % if dopamine are produced in the gut? So being anxious is not necessarily a head matter but may be a gut issue.

13.01.2022 Depression has many causes In a Harvard stress study, they followed 160 college students for 35 years. Students who felt close to their father and mother had a 25% chance of developing depression, while those who did not feel close to both parents has an increased chance of depression by 80-90%, or one parent by 50%. Relationships are very important. It’s also been shown that depression causes decreased blood flow to the brain and increased inflammation in the body. So just the thoughts that we think and the emotions that we feel will have a dramatic effect.

13.01.2022 Hi Ok I’m back from Bali. I experienced my first earthquake. I actually was unaware of it but people were running out onto the streets. These beautiful people live with this every day. We are soo blessed in Australia.

12.01.2022 Endocrine disrupters: The endocrine system is tightly controlled by a thing called homeostasis, which maintains balance at all times. Thus can be thrown out by endocrine disrupters or known as EDC’s which include PBA, DES, DDT AND PCB’s. 12.01.2022 Did you know that gluten contains opiate-like peptides that give you the feeling of comfort? No wonder you can become addicted to that slice of bread. It’s like a temporary narcotic. It’s food for thought.

09.01.2022 Tips to prevent complications due to a viral infection. As you all are well and truly aware of our global situation with the COVIT-19 breakout, I just wanted to share some comforting tips. This virus may up regulatean enzyme that causes vaso construction and produce a thick mucous. To prevent this from happening please follow this:... - Reduce stress - Drink tepid water and not iced drinks - Stay well hydrated - Add lemon or apple cider vinegar to your water to clear out mucous. Cranberry juice is also beneficial - a compound called NAC may be beneficial in clearing excess mucous - maintain good health by eating fresh fruit and vegetables These are just a view suggestions. If you would like more support please send me a text. Stay well

08.01.2022 The gallbladder, part 2 The gallbladder is not only involved in storing bile for fat metabolism but also acts as an anti microbial and may protect you from an infection called Chlostridium difficile, which may cause bloating and heartburn just to mention some of its effects on the body. Stress causes a decrease in bile flow and may be causing you digestive discomfort. Methylation is another important process that is required for bile acid production.

07.01.2022 Anxiety and depression We have this concept that our brain produces all neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin. But did you know that 85% are made in the gut, some in the spine and only 12% in the brain? This concludes that the health if the gut becomes crucially important. If you want to test the health of your gut please contact me.

07.01.2022 Depression, anxiety and panic attacks It is estimated that in today’s society we experience 5 times more mental health issues. It doesn’t just affect adults but also many children are plagued by it. It is forecast that by 2030 it will be the next 1 disability in the world. Anxiety and depression are not a disease but a correlation of many different factors. Very view are caused by genetic defects but most of them are and can be explained by epigentics such as environmental in...fluences (toxins, lifestyle and nutrition). So there is hope. Some of the aspects I use in clinic are DNA testing to determine any possible genetics that needs to be corrected. This test is quick and easy and may include; detoxification, hormone and fertility profile, methylation profile, mood and cognition profile and nutrigenomics profile. The cheapest way of doing it is combining the all in a wellbeing bundle. If you have been concerned and would like to find out more about the mood and cognition profile or a complete wellbeing bundle contact me on 0407190309 Next: steps to overcome anxiety and depression

07.01.2022 Your gallbladde and estrogen. Estrogen is essential for women’s health and wellbeing. It gives us that glow and the energy we need for ever days tasks. Too often though our estrogen levels are out of balance, especially too high a level; which can be caused by stress, lack of sleep, too much alcohol consumption etc. Your gallbladder is affected by too much estrogen, and may cause gallbladder attacks, gallbladder pain, bloating and shoulder discomfort .

05.01.2022 How well is your liver? 01.01.2022 Progesterone, estrogen and neurotransmitters. It is know that the brain is highly responsive to progesterone. Progesterone improves GABA , a calming neurotransmitter and low progesterone may lead to anxiety. It also reduces prolactin, which may cause breast tenderness. I can test your progesterone levels here in clinic. Give me a call on 0407190309.
