15.01.2022 Better Health South Tamworth COVID19 (Corona Virus) update. This practice is regularly reviewing valid medical advice about managing the outbreak of this virus. Therefore, our current practice procedures are as follows: 1.It is requested that if you have a cough or cold like illness, or if according to current guidelines you should be in self isolation because of recent overseas travels, or have had close contact to someone who has a confirmed corona virus infection, all appo...intments should be made by phoning the practice on 67556755. 2.Reception staff have been requested to ask all patients have you got a cold or flu like illness and have you travelled overseas recently. If there is no perceived risk of a person having the corona virus (COVID-19), appointments will be offered to that patient. To minimise the risk of transferring a non-corona virus infection to other patients and staff, specific times will be allocated to triaged patients, or phone consultation will be arranged. 3.If there is a risk that a patient may have the corona virus (COVID-19), then they will be offered a phone consultation, and if necessary, advised to attend the Tamworth Base Hospital. The Tamworth Base Hospital may establish a fever clinic (that is, a clinic to manage patients with a possible corona virus infection). When this facility is available, suspected COVID 19 infected patients can be referred to this service. 4.Most importantly we wish to remind that any patient with a corona like illness will not be seen at this practice. They will be triaged appropriately and provided the correct medical advice before being referred to the Tamworth Base Hospital. This will minimise the risk of spreading the coronavirus through our community. 5.A hint sheet on managing coughs and colds is available on request at the surgery. See more

13.01.2022 Telehealth consultations Our practice is now offering telephone and video appointments to patients where appropriate. For current patients, if you would like to book a telephone of video consultation, please contact reception on 67556755 and request a telephone or video consultation. A date and time will be made, and your GP will contact you via the agreed method on, or around, this time.

11.01.2022 Important flu vaccination clinic information for current patients: We’re already taking names and booking in patients for our flu vaccination clinics. Thank you for your understanding, as we work our way through the current waiting list. The priority is those over 65 years of age and patients with a specific chronic disease. As you’d appreciate, it’s a challenging time for us all. Our team is working hard to ensure we will get to everyone on the list in a clinically appropriate time frame. If you have not put your name down for a flu clinic, please contact the surgery direct on 67556755. Those with certain medical conditions, children under five, adults over 65, pregnant women, and Aboriginals / Torres Straight Islanders will receive a free government funded vaccine. For other patients, you may require a script from your pharmacy.
