25.01.2022 Richmond Better Backs update. We are continuing to be open for your benefit as we are an essential service. But as of today Dr David Jones chiropractor will only work from Mitcham during the Covid-19 state of emergency and Dr Emily Mitrevski will only work from Richmond. 22.01.2022 Movement March is all about getting your body moving Do you know how much time you spend moving your body daily? Are you doing 10,000 steps a day? How much exercise are you doing daily? These are some questions you may have asked yourself or had asked to you by your practitioner.... The attached article outlines how sitting or being in a sedentary position for too long can be detrimental to our overall health. This isnt unknown information as the general population is aware that we should participate in 30 mins of exercise three or more times a week, but do we actually move enough once we have completed our daily exercise. It is not only important to exercise, but also ensure that when we are sitting at our desks we have standing up breaks or do a quick walk to the toilet every so often. Participating in this type of movement will reduce time spent sitting and allow our body to move more, which is what Movement March is all about! 17.01.2022 URGENT UPDATE!!!!!!! No Need for a REFERRAL from GP. However there are restricted access to care based on the following guidelines. Read through if you are not sure if your care is Essential please call our office to discuss. NEW UPDATED GUIDELINES FOR WHAT CONSTITUTES AS ESSENTIAL CHIROPRACTIC CARE under stage 4 restrictions. ... What is essential care? DHHS with ACA stipulate that Essential care applies: - only if there is likely to be a significant deterioration in a patients physical or mental health should they not receive care in the next 6 weeks - to an acute injury or chronic flare up and would need to be moderate to severe in nature. Advice from the DHHS This week the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) advised all allied health practitioners that, in areas where stage 4 restrictions apply. - Care should only be provided if the absence of, or delay of this care, would result in a significant change or deterioration in the patients functional independence, necessitating escalation of care. Chiropractors can provide essential care in the following instances: To avoid a requirement for specialist input/review. To avoid an increase in care needs and/or the need for alternate accommodation. To avoid a hospital admission or emergency department presentation Again, you do not require a medical referral to receive chiropractic care. We are advised that routine, maintenance and non-urgent care should be deferred until after Stage 4 restrictions are lifted. We will endeavor to keep you up to date with the latest medical advice as we receive it. If you do require ESSENTIAL chiropractic care that meets the above criterion, or need Telehealth or other advice contact the clinic on 9873 7373 and your call will be directed to one of our chiropractors who will further discuss your care needs. 13.01.2022 We are still open for business Here is video Reminding 7s to Stay Calm, breath and relax. My top 7 tips right now: 1. Try to maintain some normality unless your normal is stress (if your working from home set a routine) have you work period set in 4x2hr blocks. Or more if you do more than 8hrs a day 2. In the above routine have a time for planning. Think a little about tomorrow and today and next week. Dont spend the whole day planning or dwelling on the situation around us.... 3. For me its prayer for you it might be meditation but spend time away from your phone/s and technology and media reports. Clear your mind, do breathing exercises. If you have a Garmin try doing 3 min of the "relax timer" . If you have a foam roller try laying on it for 5-15 min 4. Nutrition it is getting hard, I have seen empty shelves or the Easter eggs which now fill the once toilet paper isle at our local supermarket. Do your best to keep eating fresh non packaged foods. If you are eating your packaged foods best to be having multivitamin or some packet greens if you are having trouble getting basics foods give me a private message and I have more solutions. 5. Practice good hygiene, wash(better than sanitise) regularly, social distance, one person in the family to go to shops, if you have an elderly family member or neighbour offer to get things for them so they can avoid going to public areas. 6. Cardiovascular exercise go for a walk, ride, run on the spot do t become a couch potato. If you get sick having better fitness decrease severity, duration and mortality. 7.spinal alignment I have seen and experience is a big part of keeping well. Please continue to get the care you need at our clinics. However if you have traveled outside of Australia in last few weeks, Contact to a covid-19 case or experience symptoms(sore throat, shortness of breath, cough (usually dry) and a fever) we will need you be cleared before having chiro or massage care.
