Sri Lanka Cricket produced talented test opening batsman 38 years old Tharanga paranavithana announced his retirement of all forms of cricket yesterday at Colombo. (About Mozambique cricket and special discussion with Mozambique Cricket's development coach-... ) Mozambique is one of the slow but strongly developing cricket nation in East African region. Their main governing body of cricket as known as Mozambican Cricket Association got the affiliate membership in ICC 2003,but it convert to Associate membership in 2017, however they also a member of the Africa Cricket Association as well. As a growing cricket nation they participating ICC's World Cricket League Africa Divisions and African twenty20 qualifiers as their major international level events. Their first recorded international cricket match was played against Rwanda at willomoore Park, benoni South Africa late 21st March 2004 in African league event. In April 2018 the International Cricket Council grants full international twenty20 status for all its members then Mozambican national cricket team tour to Malawi to play 7 matches twenty20 international series between both nations, till now that's Mozambique Cricket's only twenty20 international cricket tour and they finished it as 5-1 lost with one of no result game. as a member of the African Cricket Association, competes in the World Cricket League Africa Region which is a 50 over competition for African countries that aren't full member of the ICC. For this edition, they competed in the third division as they drawn to meet Sierra Leone, Morocco and Rwanda. In the opening match against Sierra Leone, they scored a six wicket win after they bowled out the opposition for only 197.
