15.01.2022 Today I was paid the highest compliment in regards to my efforts to align my life with my beliefs around work life balance. A colleague went out of her way to say how much she admires my choices, how I've chosen to value and appreciate the small things- scratch that- the big and important things, things such as time with my daughter, preparing my own home cooked meals, spending quality time with my husband and stepsons. She said 'obviously you could be high up that corporate ...career ladder and in the corner office but you choose to teach life lessons to your kids, to value your relationship and make casseroles' That I do! She said of all the people she knows in the corporate world I am living and breathing it. That I am. Balance is my highest priority. Sometimes I stay back late, get up at 3am to prepare for the day and occasionally work on weekends, yet I do this when and because I feel like it. I switch off on my days off, I value my flexibility, I have the most supportive and capable husband who plays his role as a father so well. I gave up perfectionism and picked up a growth mindset, I gave up guilt and took up feeling ok about myself. I share my vulnerabilities and surround myself with positive people whom I admire and who enrich my life. Can you have it all? I don't know the answer to that for you but I feel pretty damn pleased with the ALL i've got.
