25.01.2022 A very warm welcome to our newest resident Gracara. Our little girl was rescued from a Perth pound after her guardians failed to notify the rangers in the allocated time. We hope she is happy with her new home. #goat #kid #babygoat
25.01.2022 Bubbles and Squeek have settled in fantastically to their new home. We would like to thank everyone who helped make the adoption possible #adoption #adoptdontshop #pigs #farmanimals
24.01.2022 Ricky the #pig likes to show his food off to everyone before he eats. He always seems so #proud of himself #farmanimals #animals #piglet
24.01.2022 Unfortunately sad news. The little calf has taken a turn for the worse and is now having difficulty breathing. He has gone into ICU for the night to be on oxygen and more fluids. Sorry about the old photo. We will head into visit tomorrow and hopefully have some better news :(
23.01.2022 After a hard day digging in the garden, Renee has decided to take a much needed break under the shade of the car.. #piglet #orphananimals #rehabilitacion #pig
23.01.2022 Lamb Graduation Day Attempt #27 At least they are not waiting by the gate today to "go home".
22.01.2022 It's Graduation day for the baby lambs! They are out of their barn and now in the paddocks with the big sheep. It hasn't gone too well with the lambs waiting by the gate to go back home, but after going back home tonight they will be heading back outside again to get more familiar with their new area.
22.01.2022 Last chance to grab a bargain with all proceeds going to the help the resident animals at A Better Life Animal Sanctuary Thankyou for your help.

21.01.2022 Today we say goodbye to Big Red the 2nd. We found him in a lethargic state one afternoon limping with his comb dark and cold. Sadly after two days in Intensive care, and despite loving attention from the @theunusualpetvets Big Red II passed on. Tests found that his liver and kidneys were failing. Big Red II spent the last year with us watching over his two female companions. He prided himself on being the loudest rooster at the sanctuary and would often perch himself high an...d proudly watching over the other animals at the sanctuary. RIP Big boy
20.01.2022 Renee and Zorro having a sleep in! #pigs #dogs #bestfriends
20.01.2022 Welcoming Mavis, the two-month old orphaned lamb to the #ablas family. Mavis didn't take much of a liking to the other lambs yesterday, so she slept in our bedroom
18.01.2022 Nineteen years ago, at the young age of three, Magic (right) was bound for slaughter. Despite being purchased for nearly $100,000, when he blew both his front s...uspensory tendons, his previous 'owners' were not willing to give him 12 months of rest, instead opting to send him to be killed. He is now one of the lucky ones, a loved GPS family member who will live out the rest of his days at a sanctuary that will never expect anything from him. He spends his days surrounded by his equine family including Ollie (left) another rescued ex-racehorse/jump horse. - On average, a horse dies on the track every 3 days! - Close to 13,000 racehorses are considered 'wastage' and are killed every year, just because they aren't fast enough. - Studies from the University of Melbourne have shown that 56% of racehorses have blood in their windpipe - Whips HURT! To the thousands of beautiful horses who lose their lives to this industry - we're so sorry. Put your bet on kindness this year: https://bit.ly/3emAkcU #nuptothecup #horseracingkills #rescuedracehorses

15.01.2022 A late night dash to adopt a new-born calf lead to a visit to the vets. Sadly after being left in the field by a farmer a next door neighbour noticed strange behaviour from a cow. For almost two days this little boy was stuck in the mud. He is extremely dehydrated, has bleeding to the stomach, and blood pressure was so low that getting in a drip intraveineusely was impossible. The next 24hrs are critical and we are hoping he pulls through 8/9/2020 11:05pm: It is with great s...adness that we announce that George the Calf has passed away. George was an innocent sufferer in a hell of our making. If suffering in this world is rewarded in the next, then he will surely be in heaven now. His last moments were just as tragic as his first few days, going into an epileptic fit before his heart gave way. But he was one of the lucky ones. He didn’t die alone, wet in the mud. He died knowing the love of his rescuers, the vets, and others who did everything they could to help him. George will be buried at the sanctuary. He will never meet his friends, but we know Tommy, Norman and the other animals would have loved to have had him around. See more
15.01.2022 Zorro the dog takes his job of protecting the 3 lambs very seriously, sometimes even going to the length of taking long naps with them.... #dogs #sanctuary #orphanlambs #cuteanimals
14.01.2022 Lamb Krew wait patiently for the 2nd pile of hay so they can get a better seat at the dining table...
14.01.2022 CAN YOU HELP??? We are looking for volunteers next week between Tuesday 23rd March to Friday 26th March. With the weather cooling down significantly next week, this is a great time to clean up the paddocks for the animals. You will also get to meet all the animals at the sanctuary. Expressions of interests only currently due to our work commitments, but please let us know which days you can come, and from what time via either private message or in the comments section. Thankyou for your ongoing help
14.01.2022 Our Little Zorro is recovering from his desexing because of an enlarged prostate. Later X-rays and blood work also showed a dysfunctional liver most likely caused by an old virus. To spare poor Zorro more tests and a nasty Liver biopsy, Zorro has been put on liver medication to see if his liver function improves.
13.01.2022 We received a phone call from The Unusual Pet Vets about a #duck that was found by rangers who desperately needed a home otherwise he would be slaughtered. We decided to give this big boy a loving and forever home. What we didn't expect was that he's an incredibly friendly and trusting little guy who loves human interaction. So now the big question, what should we call him????????
13.01.2022 Flashback: A much younger and smaller Phoebe the piglet enjoys the baby roosters chick crumble. Phoebe, the first pig adopted by us, was left in a box at Peel Zoo entry. The baby roosters were part of a school hatching project.
12.01.2022 Oh looks like someone is taking it upon themselves to come and get their own meal today. It's definitely time to plan their new pig pen, with some definite improvements to "security". The goats agree!
12.01.2022 A big hello to our new #goat resident who will be spending some time with our #friends at Happy Hooves Farm Sanctuary until his desexing procedure. He had quite the #adventure jumping 6 fences before being caught by rangers in Mundaring. So what should we call this big boy?
09.01.2022 Robert and Ramsay get their chew on before the storm arrives. Raymond is chilling by the door out of the wind #lambs #rams #sheep #animalsanctuary
09.01.2022 A big welcome to our newest resident Renee the piglet. Renee's family was hit by a car on saturday, before a good Samaritan rescued her and took her to a vet. Rehabilitation got off to a slow start with Renee not eating or drinking for the first 24 hours, but now she is demanding food & looking healthier.
09.01.2022 When you are a dog at an animal sanctuary you have to take what you can get.. And sometimes for Zorro that means taking the high ground. Other times it means taking a little more than you could ever stomach and being a little hoarder

05.01.2022 Elton has been full of energy and health has increased 5-fold in the last week. His scours has cleared, Renee the piglets stomach is again being used as a trampoline, and Elton continues to act more like his kitten mate Woody every day. He often jumps atop of window sills, tables, washing machines and everywhere the cats do to get a good view and eat whatever treats he can find.

01.01.2022 Today is graduation day for Mavis as she moves into the barn with the other lambs Ramsey, Raymond, and Robert. Our first attempt didn't go too well with Mavis crying for hours on end, so she thought it would be better if she came inside to sleep in the house....
