22.01.2022 Our resident Dogtor, Kevin, is on-site at City Doctors in Hobart checking the heart health of his patients today. He comes with a warning though...too many pats WILL make your heart explode!

22.01.2022 Unfortunately, due to the current circuit breaker lockdown in Adelaide, we have POSTPONED Thursday’s scheduled Bone Bus visit to Strathalbyn Family Medical Centre because while important, this is not a time-sensitive ‘essential’ service. The Bone Bus will send cancellation notices via SMS to anyone who had booked to attend the service. Alternative Bone Bus appointment options will be advised in due course. Please be reassured that our clinic remains open. We are offering telephone appointments, but patients requiring a face-to-face consult will have this arranged by their consulting GP. Please do not attend the clinic in person unless you have spoken with one of our reception team members or doctors.

11.01.2022 During the current COVID-19 outbreak in Adelaide, we have reintroduced a number of measures at our clinic for the safety of our patients, doctors, and staff. These safety measures include: Encouraging telephone appointments (where possible). Limiting the time of face-to-face appointments. Encouraging all patients to wear a face mask while in the clinic.... We are also continuing to observe social distancing >1.5m and are limiting the number of patients in our waiting room. If you have symptoms of the flu, a cold, or a loss of sense of smell or taste, then a COVID-19 test is necessary. Please refer to the SA Health website (https://bit.ly/32OluXK) for a list of COVID-19 clinics and testing centres. If you are unwell and have respiratory symptoms, please ask for a telephone appointment with a GP, and a safe review will be arranged. Please be assured that our clinic is COVID-19 safe. The Government has restricted Medicare GP telehealth items to circumstances where a patient has an existing relationship with a general practice (i.e., the patient has visited a GP in the practice face-to-face in the last 12 months), other than for children aged under 12 months or patients who are homeless. A private or gap fee may be incurred for telephone or video consults.

10.01.2022 Unfortunately, due to the current COVID-19 outbreak in Adelaide, COTA has had to postpone the Advanced Care Directive & My Aged Care community information session scheduled for Tuesday 24th November in Hahndorf. COTA will reschedule this event once it is safe to do so. Keep an eye on our page for a new date.

03.01.2022 During Dementia Action Week (21-27 September 2020), we were fortunate to have one of our GPs, Dr Stephanie Daly, present a webinar to many of our doctors about the identification and classification of Dementia. Dr Daly is also a Dementia Australia Educator and thanks to her passion, our Golden Grove Family Health practice is currently one of the only healthcare facilities in Australia to be recognised as a Dementia Friend. Thank you Dr Daly for all you do to help those livin...g with dementia and their families! #DementiaActionWeek #DementiaSupport #DementiaAwareness #DementiaAustralia

03.01.2022 Recently, we welcomed our first nursing student to Flagstaff Hill Medical Centre. Bethany is a third-year Bachelor of Nursing Student at Flinders University and worked alongside our Registered Nurses for eight weeks for her final placement. Bethany was a delight! She was professional and enthusiastic and took advantage of the learning opportunities presented to her. We wish Bethany the very best as she nears the completion of her studies! 01.01.2022 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. It's an opportunity for us all to be breast aware and support those affected by the disease in our community. Early detection is essential, and a quick and simple self-check can help you to identify any changes, including: A new lump or lumpiness, especially if it's only in one breast.... A change in the size or shape of your breast. A change to the nipple, such as crusting, ulcer, redness, or inversion. A nipple discharge that occurs without squeezing. A change in the skin of your breast such as redness or dimpling. An unusual pain that doesn't go away. Remember, most changes aren’t due to breast cancer, but it’s essential to see your GP without delay if you notice any of these changes.
