24.01.2022 Anyone else noticed these little critters in their garden recently? This BPAG employee has heaps on a set of closely planted hibiscus and since we'd been seeing lots of chatter about them on garden sites, thought we'd share this info from our friends at Bailey's. Turns out they are good little critters to have in the yard and at my place they are feasting on a pile of aphids that moved in on those particular hibiscus. Well, I'm happy they are visiting and hopefully they will enjoy their feast and pollinate my citrus trees whilst stopping by

23.01.2022 WAG OFF THE WEIGHT - 2020 Well our 12 week weight loss challenge is now complete and all the participants have had their weights calculated into percentages. What an amazing group of pooches and their families! Huge congratulations to every one of the dogs and owners because there's fantastic stories around the weight drops! Well done The overall Wag Off The Weight Champion was ... ....... drumroll please ........ JAKEY!!! Jakey lost 9.4% of his total starting body weight and his Mum says that they are both getting fitter and more agile. Have a look through the photos and see each of our fantastic and now fitter WOW champions. There were 7 finalists for weigh-in and we decided that everyone deserved winning a prize so we have expanded the original number of prizes to cover all our amazing and now beach ready canines Jakey, Luna, Archie, Lilly, Rosie and Loki and Rosie will all be able to come in and do some shopping for their pamper packs and pick up free food from the fantastic Pro Plan range to celebrate. A few of the doggies are going to continue their weight loss journey and stay on the Pro Plan Weight Loss. We laughed about setting up a BPAG WOW Club for regular weekly weigh-ins and recipe tips like those famous hooman clubs! We would like to send our great thanks to everyone who participated in the 12 week Wag Off the Weight journey and a special shout out to Pro Plan for supporting this 3 month project with the free foods and discounted Weight Loss product through the campaign. Having a healthy weight through life as a pooch, no matter your age, really does mean an easier time. And as Rosie senior has proven, at 17yrs old ... you're never too old to make change!

21.01.2022 Ewwwwww!!! Today is an exciting day! It's the final weigh-in day for our Wag Off The Weight competition and we get to see all the contestant's outcomes. Squeeeeee! Remember Archie who had to have cruciate surgery just a couple of weeks into the programme? Well, what a champ he is! And his loving folks too. ... Despite being on restricted activity for weeks, Archie has weighed in today ... and he's lost just over 3kg! Archie, we thought you were a hunk of love anyway but now you're a slimmer hunk of love. So well done gorgeous boy. Can't wait to see more of the gorgeous pooches and their stories.

21.01.2022 Signs are up and we're starting to get busy!!! Sale starts today!

21.01.2022 WOOHOO!!!! Some days are diamonds, and some days are ... well..... wine barrels! It's been a few years since we were able to grab a big load of retired wine barrels but ... but ... but ... we got some! The first truck load arrived today and there's more coming. Squeeeeeee! We had pallets going every which way today. ... The boss has to do a bit of chopping because some we will sell whole and some we will chop in half for planters, so the half ones won't be ready for another week or so. In the next few days we will start getting them out to all our stores. If you've been thinking about wanting one or maybe getting one as a Christmas gift, please give your local store a buzz and we can do customer special orders. We bought every barrel that was available but once they are gone, they are gone. PS: No. They definitely do not come filled with wine

21.01.2022 And another slimming champion. The lovely Luna is showing us her new svelte self and what she thinks about dieting! Good job Luna! You've done so well and we think your beach days are definitely going to be bikini bod days this summer girl!

You won't have the willpower to ignore these two cutie faces But speaking of willpower, Rosie & Loki are contestants in our Wag Off The Weight programme that is running for another week and a bit and their Mum says that they are doing well in shaping up for summer. Even their Groomer noticed a difference in their bodies. How awesome is that! ... People might think it doesn't matter so much for little dogs but actually even an extra 100gms is putting those teeny joints under pressure as they age so super well done to Rosie, Loki and their Mum for making this change. Good job! With faces like those, we think that these two have a brilliant modelling career in front of them? Do you agree?

18.01.2022 One more before the day ends How precious is this sweet little face! Well done to Rosie for doing the Wag Off The Weight competition. Rosie is about 17yrs old I believe and she battles Cushings Disease which makes weight control just that bit harder again but Rosie is not a gal that says 'can't do stuff'! How many people right now want to lean in and give that soft, darling face a big smooch??? Don't make me be the only kissing the screen folks!

15.01.2022 Happy Birthday to Us! 15 years ago today was the very first day of Better Pets and Gardens trading, from our first site at Caversham. Stuart & Ellen, who still own the stores, had a young family and juggled heaps to get this business going. Over the 15 yrs since then, there's been ups & downs for sure, but here we are celebrating this fabulous anniversary. There's around 40 of us now who work across the five stores and we're all locals, just like Stuart & Ellen. There's b...een a GFC and of course, COVID19, to battle with but with the incredible loyalty of our team members and customers, we're so grateful to all be able to work in an industry and business we love. To all our staff, past and present, and to all the customers who have supported us over these years.....THANK YOU! You're the reason that Better Pets and Gardens, just a little family owned, WA business, is celebrating our 15th birthday today!

With world transport being in disarray with COVID, we didn't think we would be seeing any more chicken coops this side of the end of the year .... but our stores are just getting some back in now! Yahoo! ... If you are new to keeping chickens, chat to our team about the different foods and also about keeping shellgrit up for them to help digestion.

We believe it will take all of the day to complete. Being open 7 days a week makes it really hard to pick a day that is better so we do apologise in advance for the inconvenience. Well, I take no responsibility for any visitor's lack of willpower if you pop into our Caversham nursery over the weekend and overspend on the new plants! I'm just sharing the fact that the horticulturist's have gone a little mad and bought some staggeringly gorgeous new plants. There's something for everyone in this lot! ... Have a look at the colours in those frangipanis & hibiscus! (Note to self - Do NOT do a quick run down to Caversham!) There's some pearlers in the new waterwise natives too and if you've got a black thumb instead of a green one, hey ... grab a cute garden gnome for colour

We've got Cat Adoption Days at our Kelmscott & Malaga stores tomorrow (Sat, Oct 31st) from 10am - 2pm. You won't have to spend Halloween Eve alone if you pass the adoption criteria and have ID and a cat carrier with you. ...
