15.01.2022 Lucy Kelly - Junior 3 Youre a Superstar darling. Its Lucys Jazz day today so shes doing her class in the back yard. Taking it so seriously shes even put her uniform on. Anyone else following Lucys lead?

13.01.2022 You start by taking your 3 year old daughter to dance class as something to fill an hour of her week and give her an outlet for her energy. She comes home fro...m class and continues to dance around the house, wearing a few spare scarves from your cupboard or last years princess costume from the dress up box - asking every day "do I go to dance today?" Next thing you know, you're complaining about the hours spent driving back and forth to the studio, the later-than-you'd-like rehearsal (on a school night?), time sitting and waiting at the studio for classes to end when you have a million other places to be, and don't even get me started on the money - tuition, shoes, shoes, costumes, shoes. Did I mention shoes? You fret and worry that a "normal" childhood is passing her by. She's not on the netball team, she's not a runner or in the swim club. She's rarely at the dinner table because she has a class almost every night of the week. Family holidays are planned around rehearsals. But before you know it, she's danced her last concert and discarded her last pair of shoes and it's all over too soon. When it's all over and she's left the stage for the last time, will you remember the hours, the money, the worry of the physical toll? My guess is "NO". You will remember the gifts dance has given her: the ability to prioritise and multitask, a strong, flexible body, the ability to handle pressure and last minute changes, and an appreciation for music not currently heard on the radio. You will be grateful you are sending your daughter out into the world with with a strong work ethic and long attention span. You will have a great sense of peace knowing your daughter is part of a strong circle of young women equally capable of lifting one another up when the road is rough, as they are out celebrating one another's triumphs. In the end, you can pat yourself on the back because taking her to that first dance class years ago was one of the best parenting decisions you made www.hairenpointe.com.au @konsphotography @lia.ballerina See more

13.01.2022 Congratulations to all students who participated in the 2020 exam session for Jazz & Tap. Brilliant results. Everyone should be extremely proud of the way you handled your selves in this difficult year. Thanks also to our teachers who worked overtime to see that students completed their work. Sincere thanks to our Examiners from APDA for the kind and understanding manner they showed to our students and for their very fair assessment of our candidates. Your time was much appreciated.

04.01.2022 Dear Mr McGowan, First thank you for the fantastic job you and your government are doing during this Covid-19 crisis. The detrimental effects to this state have been minimised greatly due to the work you have been doing, again thank you. My query relates to the opening of WA State Schools but not, other child related community activities.... My husband returned to work yesterday teaching a class of 25 children in a 60 sq/m classroom. Yet I am not permitted to return to my Ballet class of 20 children in a 200 sq/m classroom. Why? For social distancing? Dance classes lend themselves to social distancing already. Dance studio spaces are large and an integral part of dance training, is spatial awareness. On average the number of students participating in dance classes are lower than school classes, but in much larger rooms. Before the close down our cleaning protocols were of a very high standard. Much higher than those being implemented in State Schools at the time. Ballet barres, benchtops and door handles were cleaned with disinfectant between each class. Teachers administered hand sanitiser to each child at the beginning and end of every class. We already had in place that parents were not permitted into the studio as it was drop off and picked up only. To stop congestion, we staggered classes. We (Dance Schools) do not have staff rooms, as all available space is used for dance, and almost every dance class has only one adult teacher in the room. We have only one or two classes running at a time, which equates to only two or three adults in the premises at a time, all in different rooms. No one could argue that creative and physical activity is not important for young children and teens. So is discipline, focus and hard work, all of which are instilled in children through dance education. Children desperately need an artistic and physical outlet during this time of isolation and anxiety, and dance studios provide that. I argue that if statistics prove that schools are now safe for students and teachers, then dance schools are an even safer place for children and their dance teachers. Donna Simmonds

03.01.2022 Congratulations Elise.

03.01.2022 Great News BBDA Family We will be reopening the Studio on May 18th. I will email everyone with further details later. Donna
