23.01.2022 Even if you’re in isolation, you need to move your body and exercise your cardiovascular and lymphatic systems for your health and immune function. Take it gently if you’re feeling sick. It’s great to catch some fresh air and sunshine and feel your body awaken through all its ranges of movement, use your breath and tune into your balance. My friend and teacher from Newtown, @sandykingyoga has released a series of online classes that you can do at home. She’s promoting access to yoga so if you want to you can choose a class , contribute a donation if you can or share the word. She’s bringing a bit more peace and connectedness to these uncertain times. Here was my morning practice today with her Immunity class and a cute little interruption

23.01.2022 At @oomphosteopathy we are following the guidelines provided by the Australian Government Department of Health for health care workers to maximise the safety of our patients and ourselves. . INCREASED HYGIENE PRACTICES: We will be asking our patients to wash their hands before each treatment. In addition, there will be an increased regime of surface disinfection and linen turnover in the clinic. . RESCHEDULE: If you have been in contact with a suspected or confirmed case, o...r if you have ANY symptoms of fever, flu-like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat and fatigue or shortness of breath, we would ask that you get in touch to reschedule your appointment. There is no cancellation fee for taking these measures. . PRACTITIONER HEALTH: Both Drew and I will discontinue contact with patients and get rapidly tested should we develop symptoms or sustain contact with a confirmed case. In the case that our schedules change on this account, we ask for your understanding at this time. See more

19.01.2022 Hi there. My name’s Betty and I’m an Osteopath. I started my full-time study when I was 17 years old and so have had my hands and my attention steadily tuned towards finding health since 1998. I’m currently on maternity leave and am taking this pause to contemplate some Big Ideas. The role of creativity in health The relationship of stillness and motion Trauma-informed practice Community, intersectionality and resilience as they relate to the above. ... Historically, my practice has naturally oriented itself to Women’s Health, dancers and other bodies with unusual capabilities as well as acute and chronic pain management. I use a combination of structural and biodynamic cranial approaches and am a huge proponent of achievable meditation and connection to Nature, with my own Vipassana practice and hiking as a source of my own health and resilience. I hope to crystallise some of my ruminations from my years of practice and share some of these ideas with you. See more

19.01.2022 Get outside and get your fresh air and exercise today. Armidale people, we have so much access to open space, it’s so great to use it for the sake of your physical and mental health. I’ve joined the campaign @runforwildplaces to raise awareness and money for Australian wilderness sites that are under threat. I’ve given myself the very humble goal of 50Kms in April, as I’m returning to running from a big period of inertia. Take it easy and find ways of connecting with your friends to exercise. #bekind #runforwildplaces #couchto5K #teamcockarella

17.01.2022 I’ve been working away at a new website and it is so close to being here but in the meantime, I want to quickly reconnect and share with you as we all take care during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. I will be filtering through useful online information to help empower you at home at this time.

17.01.2022 Reflecting on the art of Osteopathy and the slow percolation of the skill of palpation. Lygia Clark’s practice spans from painting and sculpture to participatory proposals, relational objects, and therapeutic practice. Notably, the Brazilian artist’s late body of workher therapiesintroduces a unique set of questions. This is Clark’s proposition Ping-Pong, 1966. The objects are Ping-Pong balls and a plastic bag. 16.01.2022 A huge thanks to my dear friend and talented wizard @techanoble for her logo design and website tweaking. I asked for a vintage, lithographic hand device that looks like the emoji... a similar posture to the Osteopath’s hands when they are administering an occipital release. Can I hear a relaxing ... ahhhh. I just love the typeface and design, it speaks to me of both the orthodoxy of science and knowledge and the art and frontier of healing.

14.01.2022 Reposted with permission from @thingorthings All human experience is incarnate, that is to say: of the body. The body is the dimensionality of our being. The body is a process and both subject and object. The body is living matter related to space, time, and viewer. The body is not merely the source, but also always the estrangement from the I who claims it. No one ever says: here I am, and I have brought my body with me. A performed body is never completely legible o...r fixed in its effects it becomes meaningful through its encounter with the interpreter or viewer. A performed body makes us increasingly aware of our own state of simultaneous intersubjectivity and interobjectivity, the latter being a structure of engagement with the materiality of things, in which we recognize what it subjectively feels like to be objectively embodied. The body unites us directly to thingsa thing among things, and an object among objects. #thingorthings x @fluct.tv @fluct_monica @fluct_sigrid #fluct

14.01.2022 In solidarity with Black/Blak people in the USA, Australia and worldwide. This white violence can only end with our discomfort and willingness to take responsibility.

12.01.2022 The view from our front step. There are 3 events on in #Bangalow today! The #bangalowfarmersmarket the @bangalowfleamarkets and the @starlightfestivalbyron . There is such a buzz in the air!

11.01.2022 In the peculiar way that clusters of presentations seem to arrive in a short period, I have had quite a few jaws walk through my door recently Treating Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMD) is one of my favourite ways to pass a Friday afternoon. Not because I am a sadist, but rather because it can bring such flooding relief to a person after a pain which can feel so invasive and persistent and close to the very brain that it threatens with a headache. Other associated sy...mptoms can include ringing in the ears, dizziness, neck pain and popping and locking (not as cool as it sounds) in the jaw. Osteopaths assess the function of the jaw with respect to the local joint function and how the head is carried over the midline of the body. There are multiple triggers to TMD including emotional stress and altered use of the jaw. Treatment can involve really direct work on the jaw as well as more gentle, global techniques that allow the nervous system to back off and let the body work as a harmonious whole

10.01.2022 Sitting here watching the steady enfoldment of the waves inside the tide I recognise the generations of the local Aboriginal people of the Bundjalung Nation who have lived in and derived their physical and spiritual needs from these beaches, oceans, forests, rivers, lakes and streams of this area over many tens of thousands of years as the traditional owners and custodians of these lands. I commit myself to learning about this country for myself and my family who are settlers here and to implement workplace education to close the gap on healthcare disparity. All non-Indigenous people are living on stolen land and we have much to respect and learn from Indigenous people, for the welfare of all our hearts as well as for our environment. #naidocweek #alwayswas #alwayswillbe

09.01.2022 I’ve dragged my family up to Noosa (boo hoo!) while I’m at phase 5 of the Biodynamic Osteopathy series. I’m feeling full of life and rest and new ideas

07.01.2022 If an organic chai is sipped before work but nobody is there to Instagram it, did it really happen?

06.01.2022 As of 9.36am NSW Osteopathy clinics are currently allowed to stay open during this phase of the shutdown. This information is constantly updating and we will be in compliance with the safety measures recommended to keep our patients and ourselves safe. Reflecting on my patients this weekend, I saw people in the manufacturing and transport industries with bodies that were not coping with the increased demands. Many international workers have fled their jobs for their home coun...tries and the remaining workers in our food bowl of New England are straining to meet the demand placed on supermarkets. These were people in pain, greatly aided by access to osteopathic treatment. This is just one other example of how the pandemic is affecting our health. Should the regulations change, we will update our communications but for now, we at @oomphosteopathy will be serving the community and looking for alternate models such as telehealth in the coming days.

06.01.2022 I’ve had the most inspiring day (plus another today) of education with @spinningbabies in Lismore. A room of 22 birth professionals, all learning to facilitate physiological birth with techniques to open and align the pelvis for effective labour. I attended the screening of @birthtimeworld in Byron Bay last night and wept with joy and frustration at the power and triumph of birth and the revolution that must happen to reassert sovereignty to the birthing person. Feeling more inspired than ever to empower and support Women and birthing people to reclaim their own incredible power #itstime #birthtimeworld #spinningbabies #birthpreparation #birthsovereignty #birthisafeministissue

06.01.2022 - MOVING - It is with sadness that I announce that I will be leaving Armidale and my work here at @oomphosteopathy . My family has been given an unexpected new opportunity to move to the Northern Rivers, so we are preparing ourselves for our final big move. I cannot express enough the gratitude I have for Drew and Connie and the whole clinic team. They are a fantastic, talented, driven and ethical group of humans who bring such a positive impact to the community. And to all my patients the genuine, surprising and diverse people who have shown me such a welcome over this whole year. I will miss you all Photo: @lizhamdotcom

04.01.2022 A very happy Christmas to you! I know it can be a bit of a hard time for people on this day so I hope you’re feeling safe and nourished and find some time to check in with yourself too. See you in 2021!

04.01.2022 **MULLUMBIMBY** I have joined the multidisciplinary team at Mullumbimby Comprehensive Health Centre, every Thursday. I will be seeing general patients, with a focus on Women’s Health and perinatal concerns. Also, how lovely are these new card? The hands are embossed into the cardstock and are very tactile. I can’t stop touching them! . . . .... . . . . #mullumbimbyosteopath #bangalowosteopath #osteopath #osteopathy #biodynamiccranialosteopath #structuralosteopath #womenshealthosteopath

01.01.2022 Hi everyone, I’m back from a trip to Sydney to manage the difficult situation of helping place my father in residential aged care after a rapid decline in his dementia. I have nearly two weeks to complete my self-isolation but am feeling well, taking time to rest and reflect and look forward to seeing you soon. Thank you for your patience
