24.01.2022 Rose Bay House: Reinterpreting the original deco bones, this major renovation finessed the existing street facade and adopted a clean contemporary slate for the rear, incorporating some nods to the building’s origins and the glamour of that age. Coming posts will review this project and we start with the rear where an uninterrupted post-tensioned span over opens the interior ground floor space up to the exterior. The connection is reinforced by the almost seamless change in ...the flooring, from bleached timber internally to a light grey marble externally with no step down. 18.01.2022 Rose Bay House: Family bathrooms don’t get celebrated much but we all know they’re intensely used. So the focus for a young family here was to remove all fiddly bits - no flappy shower door, encase the bath to make for easy wipe downs and allocate enough room so it’s an easy space to share, with a zone for each activity. First up we look obliquely across the spaces from formal to casual dining with the kitchen and living room in the background. The new library landing adds another dimension to this view which makes a feature of the existing conservatory roof, refinished in Ferrodor paint to tie in with the new screens, metalwork and window frames.
