25.01.2022 It’s finally heating up again! When was the last time you had your skin checked? Did you know that Dr Remi specialises in skin cancer and minor surgery? The s...ooner a skin cancer is identified and treated, the better your chance of avoiding surgery or, in the case of a serious melanoma or other skin cancer, potential disfigurement or even death. It is a good idea to talk to your doctor about your level of risk and for advice on early detection. If you notice any changes to your skin, make an appointment ASAP. You will have a better outcome if the skin cancer is found and treated early. Enjoy summer with ease and remember to slip, slop and slap!

22.01.2022 Did you know that the main ingredient in all vaccines - including COVID-19 vaccines - is water? In fact, many ingredients found in vaccines are also commonly ...found in your pantry and many are simply used to make the vaccine last longer in storage. For those worried about their allergies, the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines do not contain human or animal products, or common allergens such as latex, milk, lactose, gluten, egg, maize/corn, or peanuts. To learn more about the ingredients in the COVID-19 vaccines check out our blog https://www.health.qld.gov.au//whats-really-in-a-covid-19-

18.01.2022 October is National Breast Cancer awareness month. Almost 20,000 Australians will be diagnosed with the disease this year alone. That equates to 55 Australians every day! And nearly 3000 Australians will lose their lives to breast cancer this year. That’s someone’s mother, sister, friend or family member whose life has been tragically cut short because of the disease. Although the five-year survival rate has increased from 76% to 91% since 1994 thanks to research, there is st...ill progress to be made to stop deaths from breast cancer. By targeting the remaining 9% who don’t live past this survival rate, NBCF’s goal is to reach zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030. Beverley will have the breast cancer screening van available in 2021. The dates are still to be confirmed. However if you have any concerns until then, please see your local doctor and remember to selfcheck. #breastcancerawareness #cancercouncil

02.01.2022 Mental health awareness should not only be for a day or two or even a month. We must be informed about it because it can easily happen to someone close to us. Community awareness for mental health reduces stigma. Mental health awareness increases the chances for early intervention, which can result in a fast recovery. Awareness reduces negative adjectives that have been set to describe our people with a metal illness. If you or a loved one is suffering in silence, then your GP is the best place to start. They can offer treatment or refer you to other services for mental health. We also provide Telehealth appointments. #mentalhealthmatters #breakthestigma

02.01.2022 Breast self-exam, or regularly examining your breasts on your own, can be an important way to find breast cancer early, when its more likely to be treated successfully. While no single test can detect all breast cancers early, its believes that performing breast self-exam in combination with other screening methods can increase the odds of early detection. Breast self-examination is a useful and important screening tool, especially when used in combination with regular physical exams by a doctor, mammography, and in some cases ultrasound and/or MRI. #breastcancer #breastcancerawareness #pinkribbon
