21.01.2022 Weeeeeeeeeeeell, just how I remembered the WA gliding days to be.... windy and blue! Tough day with very broken thermals to around 4500 agl with a 2 1/2 AAT wi...th the customary Beecroft wedge. Great format to allow all classes of gliders to fly on the same task starting and finishing around the same time. It was hard work but rewarding today, if you could pick the streets it gave you a reprieve, almost everyone had a grovel at some point, some a few more than one.... there was a couple of out landings but the tug was on hand to sort them, so everyone was home for tea. Tomorrow the forecast is for thunderstorms right over the top from about 4am so could be a down day .... See more

12.01.2022 An interesting day today .. several gliders started a 500km task heading north and just as most of us were nearing (or had already turned) the 1st turnpoint at Kondut/Ballidu we were all a bit stunned to hear via a radio call from Beverley base that Perth was going into a 5 day lockdown (due to a covid-19 case) from 6pm ... and so we all had to turn around and go home! That was a first!

06.01.2022 JS3 pilot Norm Bloch from Beverley Soaring Society (Australia) broke the 750 km FAI 18m Australian record on the 8th January 2021. Norm commented "I was not exp...ecting record flying conditions really. The flight was 3/4 cu with no streeting but going high to 14000' eventually. Only launched at 11:11 and started shortly after i finished at 16:29 after 750 km for an average speed of 148.3 kph. The total distance flown that day was a 1000km. Even at 60.3 kg/m2 wing loading the JS3 is beautiful to fly and has extremely good feel." CONGRATULATIONS dear Norm. See more
